The Wolftrap Red from the Boekenhoutskloof winery is a red wine cuvée from South Africa that combines uncomplicated enjoyment with aromatic diversity.

An abundance of black and red fruit aromas characterize this wine, accompanied by a subtle hint of floral notes reminiscent of violets. Syrah provides the pleasant spice and freshness, while Mourvèdre gives the wine structure and depth. Ageing in oak barrels rounds off the overall picture harmoniously.

On the palate, The Wolftrap Red is soft and juicy, with notes of sweet berries, plums and a subtle spicy undertone. The tannins are pleasantly mild, making it a particularly accessible "easy-drinking" wine that still has plenty of character.

At a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C, this red wine is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, pasta, pizza or uncomplicated everyday dishes.

Das Weingut Boekenhoutskloof und die Landschaft wirken französisch. Es liegt in Franschhoek und ist eines der ältesten Weingüter mit hugenottischen Wurzeln. Auch die Weine erinnern an Frankreich, weil der Winzer Marc Kent einmal pro Jahr Frankreich besucht, um sich neu inspirieren zu lassen.

Auf 20 ha Rebfläche werden zu 25% Weißwein (Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon) und zu 75% Rotweine (Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc) angebaut. Die Temperatur ist im Jahresdurchschnitt durch den Seewind aus Südosten etwas kühler. Die Art der Böden auf dem Gut sind unterschiedlich: von tiefen Schwemmböden am Ufer des Flusses bis zu harten Lehmböden und verwittertem Granit.

Boekenhoutskloof Syrah

The Boekenhoutskloof Syrah (Shiraz) offers a wonderful blend of fruit and spice on the nose. Notes of ripe, dark plums, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves come together here, wonderfully rounded off by nuances of white pepper and dark chocolate. On the palate, this red wine from South Africa is immediately very intense and full, with a sweetish spiciness. This Shiraz is exceptionally velvety and balanced, with pleasant acidity and finely polished tannins. Very good structure and a long, fruity finish. The grapes for the Boekenhoutskloof Syrah come from three different vineyards and are vinified separately in order to emphasize the characteristics of each terroir. The wine is matured in older barrels for up to 18 months. 4.5 out of a maximum possible 5 Platter stars for this taste experience from South Africa.

Delheim Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon

Blackberry and plum aromas, backed by undertones of dark chocolate and vanilla. The wine is elegant and lingers on the palate.Fermentation with selected yeast strains. Temperature was maintained at 25-28°C. Pump-overs were conducted 4 times a day until fermented dry. The wine was matured for 13 months in French oak, and then bottled with a screw cap.

Barista Pinotage

A South African taste experience of intense, rich coffee and chocolate aromas with nuances of ripe mulberries, plums and cherries.This dry red wine is also the perfect accompaniment to food. It pairs very well with dark meat, creamy casseroles and even intense desserts. Also a great accompaniment to blue cheese or Belgian chocolate. Vinified ready to drink from the start for immediate enjoyment. We recommend 18 °C as the ideal drinking temperature.The Barista Pinotage from the Val De Vie vineyard is made from 100% Pinotage grapes from the Robertson region. The grapes were picked at optimum ripeness in mid-February and divided into different batches and treated in different ways.Certain batches were treated by short heating to optimize color and then returned to the skins for alcoholic fermentation. Other batches were pasteurized and immediately fermented on oak to achieve the dark, rich coffee flavors. Still other batches were fermented conventionally on the skins and pumped over several times during alcoholic fermentation and racked into French oak to complete fermentation. All batches were stabilized by malolactic fermentation in French oak.

Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block is an unmistakable taste experience from South Africa. On the nose, this dry blend of almost three quarters Syrah (Shiraz) and smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Viognier combines a variety of notes: Intense cherry notes, cardamom, sweet tobacco, espresso and a hint of perfume come together here.
