The Raka Shiraz is an expressive red wine from the Western Cape in South Africa, which impresses with its powerful structure, complex spiciness and elegant barrel ageing. Made from 100% pure Shiraz and matured for 12 months in French and American oak, this wine is one of the top 100 South African wines. A wine with character and depth that will delight red wine lovers in particular.The bouquet opens with dark chocolate, spices and a hint of leather - an intense, profound interplay of aromas. On the palate, the Shiraz is complex and elegant, with hints of roasted toast and a fine mocha note on the finish. The grippy tannins provide structure and longevity, while the wine remains pleasantly balanced.After careful selection, the hand-picked grapes were destemmed and cold macerated for four days before fermentation was initiated with selected yeast strains. Regular pumping over and punching down guaranteed optimal extraction of color, aromas and tannins. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 12 months in a combination of new and multi-seasoned French and American oak barrels, giving it depth and elegant spice.This Shiraz is the ideal accompaniment to grilled meat, game dishes, rack of lamb or spicy cheese. It also offers an intense taste experience on its own as a meditation wine.Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C

The Spier Signature Shiraz comes from carefully tended vineyards in the Stellenbosch region.A short fermentation at low temperatures gives the South African wine a strong character, with delicious fruit flavors. Two thirds of the wine is then matured for around six to eight months in a mixture of French and American oak, which rounds off the wine nicely and gives it extra complexity. Wood and fruit remain perfectly balanced. In the glass, the Spier Signature Shiraz has a bright ruby red color. The nose is dominated by wonderfully intense aromas of sweet fruit, marmalade, rosemary and thyme. There is also a slightly peppery note. On the nose, the red wine is elegant, slightly spicy with light tannins. It is supported by a delicious vanilla aroma, berries, plums and pepper.This dry red wine is a great combination with grilled beef, lamb and game, and is also delicious with duck and quail.
