Der Caracal ist ein afrikanischer Luchs (Rooikats). Die Wildkatzenart konnte durch gezielte Erhaltung und Sanierung der Lebensräume wieder auf der Farm angesiedelt werden. Jetzt wird dies durch das Label und den Namen des Weines gewürdigt. Die Farbe des Neethlingshof Caracal ist intensiv dunkelrot. In der Nase sind wunderschöne Pflaumen-, Johannisbeer- und Kirscharomen wahrnehmbar. Hinzu kommen Noten von Eichen- und Zedernholz sowie Vanilletöne. Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Wein körperreich, muskulös und weich. Die festen, aber geschmeidigen Tanninen tragen zur kräftigen Struktur bei. Die Weinberge wurden 1997 bepflanzt und sind reich an organischem Material. Sie liegen auf einer Höhe von 120 Metern und bestehen vornehmlich aus zersetztem Granit. Der Neethlingshof The Owl Post Pinotage hat eine tiefrote Farbe, eine komplexe Textur mit schwarzen und roten Früchten. Die Tannine sind wunderbar eingebunden und werden von einer feinen Säure unterstützt. Das Bouquet zeigt reife Fruchtaromen, unter anderem Banane.
