Lanzerac Le General is a so-called Bordeaux Blend, which would be assigned to the left bank in Bordeaux, i.e. the Médoc region. This style has its origins in the classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot.The grapes for this wine all come from the estate's best vineyards in the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. The wine matured for 20 months in 1st and 2nd fill French oak barrels. This full-bodied blend announces vanilla and nutmeg spices before a flood of dark berries, cooked plums and blackcurrants hit the palate. Dark chocolate and a hint of smoke are supported by powerful, soft tannins and an endless finish. This vintage has already reached drinking maturity. Decanting recommended.Enjoy this wine with braised rack of lamb with fennel and orange or with a white chocolate mousse with cherries.

Lanzerac Merlot 2023

The grapes for Lanzerac Merlot come from vineyards located in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch. These vineyards are divided into four different parcels of land with vines that are between 9 and 17 years old, covering an area of 20.31 acres. This terroir consists of deep red, decomposed granite soils and is located between 125 and 400 metres above sea level. After arrival in the cellar, the grapes were selected by hand and destemmed. Before they were gently pressed, the loose grapes underwent a second selection by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with pumping over twice a day, allowing an optimal extraction of colour and aromas. The Merlot matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. The optimal point of the ripening process was reached by regular racking. This appetizing Lanzerac Merlot has a lot to offer and leaves nothing to be desired. On the nose, it offers concentrated aromas of black fruit, along with sweet notes of vanilla and spicy aromas. The tannins give the wine more complexity, gently underpinning aromas of plums, black cherries, cooked strawberry purée and dark chocolate, finely rounded off by a long, integrated finish. The Lanzerac Merlot goes beautifully with veal chops and portabello mushrooms, gnocchi in a red pepper sauce with crispy pancetta or with a creamy gruyere and parmesan cheese risotto.

The Lanzerac Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Blanc de Blancs Brut from the Jonkershoek valley near Stellenbosch is a sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The vines grow in vineyards with deep, sandy soils, situated between approximately 200 and 400 metres above sea level. Harvesting is done by hand in order to ensure that only fully ripe and healthy grapes are selected.The fine sparkling Lanzerac is a good accompaniment to any occasion. It offers creamy notes of sponge cake, complemented by lively aromas of apples and citrus fruit. The tiny bubbles virtually tingle on the tongue. This sophisticated vividness reveals the wine’s elegance and subtlety. The palate is characterised by a fine note of yeast, precisely sustaining the long-lasting finish. Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay 2024

In 1914, Elizabeth Katherina English bought the Schoongezicht farm and renamed it Lanzerac. In the following years, one of the most modern wineries at that time was created at the Cape. In order to pay tribute to this impressive woman, this wonderful Chardonnay was produced.The grapes for the Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay come from a single vineyard located in the Jonkershoek valley. The vines are more than 20 years old and are situated 375 metres above sea level. The wine gleams flaxen in the glass and offers citrus aromas on the nose. On the palate, this marvellously complex wine is full-bodied and long-lasting. It was aged in new and used barrels, giving the wine a beautifully clear balance and lots of character. The Mrs. English Chardonnay is wonderfully rounded off by a pre-eminent fruitiness. The wine’s high ageing potential ensures that it will be a genuine delight for the next 10 years.The Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay is an ideal accompaniment to smoked salmon, white fish, pork or chicken and creamy pasta dishes.

Lanzerac Pinotage 2022

The grapes for the Lanzerac Pinotage come from vineyards located at an altitude of between 400 and 420 meters above sea level. The prevailing wind here helps to cool the grapes in hot summers. The soils consist mainly of decomposed granite, which favors the deep growth of the vines and the soil retains water better.Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over. First, second and third-fill oak barrels were used to mature the Lanzerac Pinotage. Maturation took place over a period of 15 months. At this point, the optimal integration between wood and fruit was complete. The result is an excellent color and a scent of ripe berries and plums. On the palate, the red wine is velvety dense, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced. Aromas of high-quality chocolate and notes of caramel delight the palate with wonderfully integrated tannins.Enjoy the Lanzerac Pinotage with venison medallions in plum sauce or an Asian curry dish.

Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé 2024

The Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé comes from the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is probably the best-known wine region in South Africa.After the grapes were pressed, the skins were left in contact with the liquid for around 3 hours. This gives the wine a beautiful, delicate color. The Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé impresses with soft aromatic notes of perfume and rose petals. On the palate, there is plenty of redcurrant and strawberry fruit. This is a soft, dry, slightly perfumed and fruity rosé that is perfect as a terrace wine in the warm summer months.Enjoy this rosé with fresh fruit dishes of all kinds or a prawn, mango and avocado salad or with a refreshing watermelon and feta salad.

Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc consists of grapes that come from two different vineyards. One of the vineyards is already 19 years old and located 450 metres above sea level. The grapes from these vines give the wine its complexity. The vines that grow in the second vineyard are only 4 years old, giving the wine its freshness. In order to protect the grapes from heat stress, the harvest was carried out early in the morning. After repeated selection in the cellar, the grapes were pressed at a temperature of approximately 57.2 °F. The must remained in contact with the skin for about 6 hours. Subsequently, the wine was fermented at a temperature of 53.6 to 57.2 °F for a period of 10 days. On the nose, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc offers various aromas such as notes of green apple, Asian fruit, pears, white peach and lemon grass. It is soft and creamy on the palate, showing an intense minerality and a surprisingly long finish.Thanks to its vivid acidity, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc goes beautifully with goat’s cheese and seafood salads.

Le B par Maucaillou Bordeaux Superieur AOC 2020

Der Le B par Maucaillou 2020 ist der Bordeaux Supérieur vom berühmten Château Maucaillou aus der renommierten Appellation Moulis. Maucaillou heißt übersetzt so viel wie schlechte Steine, was aus dem Kontext der Zeit der Namensgebung des Weinguts darauf hindeutet, dass der Boden aufgrund der dortigen großen Kiesel nicht für eine normale Landwirtschaft taugte. Die Kehrseite der Medaille war aber, dass das Terroir ideal für den Weinbau ist und Maucaillou seither fantastische Rebsäfte produziert, die in großen Jahrgängen, wie 2020, richtige Trouvaillen sind.Le B spiegelt die Frucht seines großen Bruders, dem Grand Vin, wieder und ist ein absoluter gute Laune-Knaller. Selten hat uns ein junger Bordeaux-Wein - mit einem solchen Preis-Leistungsverhältnis - direkt aus der Flasche heraus mit seinem Charme und seiner vollen und frischen Frucht begeistert. Wir hatten fast den Eindruck, einen guten Kalifornier vor uns stehen zu haben, so opulent verführte uns das tiefe Himbeerbukett dieses Weins.Pascal und Magalie Dourthe, die Eigentümer von Château Maucaillou bezeichnen diesen Rebsaft, der zur vollen roten Frucht auch noch schöne Röstnoten, Mokka und Gewürznoten präsentiert, als den perfekten Einstieg in das Universum dieses Weinguts. Dem kann man nur zustimmen.

Der Merlot-Anteil dieses Weins ist höher als beim Grand Vin (53% und 47% Cabernet Sauvignon), so dass der Marquis früher trinkreif sein dürfte, jedoch immer noch zu den Langstreckenläufern aus dieser Appellation gehört. 17 Monate Fassausbau in 30% Neuholz machen diesen Wein zu einem hedonistischen Erlebnis, wie Robert Parker es formuliert.Die Farbe ist ein tiefes Purpur-Schwarz, in der Nase Kräuter, Pflaume, Minze, Creme de Cassis, Kirsche, Himbeere und Sandelholz. Dass kleine Brüder aber auch nicht ohne sein können, zeigt der 2015er Petit Haut Lafitte, der aus jüngeren Reben des Gutes gewonnen wird, aber mit der selben Hingabe im Weinkeller hergestellt wird. Der Wein reift für 14 Monate in 20% neuen Eichenfässern, die in der eigenen Küferei gefertigt werden.Der Petit Haut Lafitte 2015 ist von dunkler und intensiv-roter Farbe. Die Nase zeigt einen eleganten Mix aus roten und dunklen Früchten, Kirsche, Himbeere, Johannisbeere und etwas Kräuternoten. Am Gaumen sehr füllig und konzentriert mit schönen, geschliffenen Tanninen.
