La Bri Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Only 853 bottles of this expressive Cabernet Sauvignon were filled - vinified exclusively in outstanding vintages and from the estate's best vineyard: Block 1, planted in 1999. A real collector's item for lovers of strong, storable red wines from South Africa.The selected grapes were processed gently - after a one-week cold maceration in stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrels. The wine matured for 24 months in French oak, giving it structure, depth and elegant spice.The wine impresses with its velvety texture and finely nuanced aromas: blackcurrant (cassis), cedar wood, pencil shavings and dark spice characterize the bouquet. Powerful on the palate, but always balanced, with present tannins and a long, mineral finish.Each limited release from La Bri has a matching flower - in this case the Watsonia alba, a symbol of strength and purity. With the Double Door range, La Bri creates space for creative wines beyond rigid conventions - as is the case with this powerful, multi-layered red wine cuvée. The Double Door Red Blend combines 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc to create a harmonious whole with structure, finesse and elegance.Only grapes from the estate were used for this wine. After fermentation, the individual batches matured for 24 months in used French barriques before being blended into a precisely balanced cuvée. The longer maturation period ensures a harmonious balance between fruit, spice and velvety tannins.The La Bri Double Door Red Blend impresses with a deep dark color and aromas of blackcurrants, plums, spices and fine roasted aromas. The La Bri Merlot impressively demonstrates the sophistication and depth of this grape variety: an expressive red wine that immediately impresses with its aroma of smoked bacon, violets and ripe mulberries. On the palate, it is juicy and velvety with dark chocolate, finely integrated tannins and a lively structure - a Merlot with charm and class.The wine comes from a selection of the best barrels from three different plots with clay soils. After malolactic fermentation in the barrel, it matured for 22 months in French oak (16% of which was new), predominantly in 300-liter barriques - for complexity, elegance and depth.A feminine, structured Merlot that scores with fine aromatics, depth and a long-lasting finish. Eikendal Cabernet Merlot 2022

The Eikendal Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot is a powerful red wine cuvée in the classic Bordeaux style - full of character, full-bodied and typical of the renowned Stellenbosch wine region. The nose is dominated by ripe aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants, complemented by notes of cassis and a subtle earthiness, which are particularly typical of Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the wine impresses with concentrated, fleshy fruit, fine-meshed tannins and a perfect balance of fruity richness and spicy, sweetish toasted aromas of French oak.The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards on mineral-rich "Koffieklip" soil with a clay subsoil - ideal conditions for complex, long-lasting wines. The vines, planted in 2004, are trained using the vertical shoot position system with sparse irrigation in order to achieve particularly concentrated berries. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand into small crates, followed by cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation and gentle pressing. The wine matures for 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels (15% of which are new) before being bottled unfiltered.This elegant cuvée harmonizes perfectly with beef carpaccio, braised beef rib or a creamy curry dish. Ideally served at 18-20 °C.Ready to drink now, with potential for a further 10 years of ageing.

Eikendal Infused by Earth Chardonnay 2017

The Eikendal Infused by Earth Chardonnay is an exceptional white wine with a clear signature of the terroir. It comes from two small plots of old bush vines, high up on the Eikendal vineyard in Stellenbosch. The vines are deeply rooted in barren, weathered granite with intercalated gravel and white clay - soils that have been stripped of all organic matter. The south-easterly orientation of the rows of vines and the constant influence of the fresh sea breeze from False Bay create a cool microclimate that produces precise, elegant wines rich in finesse.The low yields of just 0.8 to 1 kg of grapes per vine are reflected in the enormous concentration and depth of the wine.The carefully hand-picked grapes were pressed as whole bunches, without prior clarification of the must. Half of the spontaneous fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, while the other half was matured in a mix of 500-liter barrels made from new French oak (60%) and a granite amphora (40%) - a rare and purist approach in which granite ferments in granite. After 18 months of ageing without fining or filtration, the wine is completely natural and unadorned.In the glass, the Infused by Earth Chardonnay is complex and profound - with notes of citrus fruit, ripe stone fruit, roasted nuts and a hint of wet stone. The structure is powerful yet precise, carried by an invigorating acidity and a salty, almost chalky finish.Serve this multi-layered white wine at 10-12 °C with sophisticated dishes such as roasted turbot with beurre blanc, chicken in a lemon and herb marinade, or a fine vegetable tart with goat's cheese. Paserene Marathon 2021

The Paserene Marathon is a wine with character that rightly bears its name: This expressive cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot comes from the renowned boutique winery Paserene, which is known in South Africa for its terroir-driven, precisely vinified wines with a clear signature. The Marathon combines persistence, intensity and elegance - a powerful red wine that contains the best of the Tulbagh region.The grapes come from low-yielding vines that thrive on weathered slate soil in Tulbagh - an area characterized by hot days and cool nights. In addition, lots from Elgin, the coolest wine region in South Africa, and from Franschhoek are vinified, giving the wine aromatic complexity and fresh structure. Fermentation and ageing are carried out with a particular focus on balance and finesse: The Marathon is fermented in small, upright French oak barrels. To avoid over-extraction, the so-called "punch-down" is carried out by hand. Half of the maturation in oak barrels takes place naturally in order to preserve the origin and pure character of the grape varieties. Before release, the wine rests in the bottle for at least six months, which gives it additional harmony and depth.In the glass, the Marathon has a deep, black-violet hue - a visual harbinger of its concentration. Intense aromas of dark berries, cassis and blackcurrants unfold on the nose, accompanied by floral notes, black pepper and a fine spiciness. Bellevue Cinsault 2022

The Bellevue Cinsault comes from one of South Africa's most traditional wine estates. Rooted in Stellenbosch, the Bellevue family winery is one of the pioneers of this versatile grape variety, which was once known as Hermitage. Today, Bellevue is reinterpreting Cinsault as a fresh, fruity red wine with moderate alcohol and a fine structure, ideal for the warmer months of the year.Bellevue Cinsault has a bright ruby red color in the glass and a lively, fragrant nose. Aromas of raspberry, strawberry, sour cherry and a hint of beet characterize the bouquet. On the palate, the red wine is medium-bodied, silky and fresh, with a subtle spiciness and supple tannins that blend harmoniously into the overall picture.The grapes come from old bush vines planted between 1994 and 1996. After gentle pressing, the must was fermented immediately. Fermentation lasted around four days, accompanied by daily pumping over for gentle extraction. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then matured on the fine lees. Ageing took place in French and American oak, which gives the wine structure and depth without masking the fruit.This Cinsault is an ideal accompaniment to beef carpaccio, grilled tuna, antipasti or summer vegetable dishes. Thanks to its freshness and fine structure, it can also be served slightly chilled - perfect for the terrace or a picnic.Best served at 14-16°C - slightly chilled, it reveals its fresh, summery elegance to optimum effect.

Silverthorn River The Green Man Methode Cap Classique Brut 2022

Silverthorn River The Green Man Methode Cap Classique from South Africa not only impresses with its quality, but also with its deeper symbolism.Named after the mythical "Green Man" - a symbol of the close connection between man and nature - this sparkling wine stands for purity, renewal and ecological responsibility. It is produced by the Silverthorn Wines estate in Robertson, which is dedicated to the production of Cap Classique. With its natural philosophy and uncompromising pursuit of quality, Silverthorn is now one of the top producers of traditionally produced sparkling wines in South Africa. The delicate green hue in the glass is reminiscent of the very spirit that inspired winemaker John Loubser to depart from the classic name "Blanc de Blancs".Made from 100% Chardonnay, this Cap Classique is carefully vinified by hand. The grapes were harvested at a cool 19°C in the early hours of the morning and pressed particularly gently as whole bunches - with a very low yield of just 500 liters per ton to guarantee the highest quality. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, 15% of the wine was matured in wooden barrels, giving it additional complexity. It then matured for at least 23 months on the lees in the bottle - a process that gives it its fine perlage and elegance.In the glass, Silverhorn River The Green Man MCC is a bright green-yellow with fine, dancing bubbles. Intense aromas of baked apples unfold on the nose, accompanied by mineral nuances and a hint of roasted almonds. It is wonderfully balanced on the palate, with an elegant structure, a lively mousse and a long-lasting, finely sparkling finish.This fine Cap Classique is the perfect accompaniment to salmon tartare with spicy lime salsa, goat's cream cheese crostini with honey and thyme or grilled green asparagus with lemon butter. The vineyards lie on the shores of a lagoon that stretches out to the cold Atlantic Ocean. Raka Figurehead 2023

The Raka Figurehead seduces with a multi-layered bouquet of dark fruits such as plum, mulberry and blackcurrant, complemented by earthy notes from the forest floor and a fresh hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is juicy and full-bodied, supported by aromas of red and black fruits, elegant wood notes and a fine spiciness that lingers on the long finish.This complex cuvée is made from a careful selection of fine grape varieties from the renowned Klein River Ward wine-growing region in South Africa. The grapes were all harvested by hand to ensure the highest quality.In the wine cellar, the grapes were carefully sorted and fermented with pure yeasts. Maceration lasted five days, during which the must was pumped over the skins 3-5 times a day and the cap was punched down to maximize depth of colour and aromatics. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation took place, followed by a short resting phase. The red wine then matured for 12 to 14 months in 225-liter French oak barrels before being blended, bottled and labeled.Raka Figurehead is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes such as roast beef, lamb and game, as well as mature hard cheeses and mushroom dishes. For an optimal taste experience, we recommend a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C.
