Sie wurden in einer Kombination aus großformatigen Eichenfässern älterer Herkunft, neuen 225 Liter Eichenfässern (sogenannten Barriquefässern) und im Edelstahltank fermentiert und gereift. Die daraus entstandene Mischung offeriert eine Vielzahl verschiedener Aromen. In der Nase zeigt sich Kalkstein, Orangenblüte, Creme Brulee, Butterscotch und deutliche Vanille. Der Steenberg Chardonnay schmeckt nach Trockenobst von Apfel und Birne. Der Wein ist elegant und seidig mit einer cremigen Textur. Im Abgang sehr stabil und leicht mineralisch.

The Catena Chardonnay combines the unique expressions of three high altitude vineyard sites. The La Piramide vineyard offers rich pineapple, passion fruit flavors and aromas with a touch of sweet honey with a rich mouthfeel. The Domingo vineyard lends notes of citrus fruit with floral notes and excellent acidity. The Adrianna vineyard contributes green apple, pear and fig flavors with a strong mineral component and vibrant acidity.The wine shows a light yellow color with marked greenish tones. The aromas show tropical fruit flavors with touches of apple and pear as well as hints of cinnamon and minerals. The mouthfeel is full yet clean, with fresh, crisp acidity.

The Bodegas Salentein estate, located in the Uco Valley near Mendoza in Argentina, is one of the most renowned wineries in South America. Both the building itself with its underground cellar in the shape of a cross and the range of wines offered by the winery are impressive. The Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay is a pure varietal Chardonnay that matured for 6 months in American oak casks before it was bottled. It is a straw yellow in the glass. The wonderfully rich bouquet offers aromas of pears, apples, cloves, lime blossoms and tropical fruit such as honeydew melon and limes. On the palate, the wine is soft and ingratiatingly full-bodied, with a lovely melt. The subtle hints of tropical fruit are underpinned by discreet notes of oak. The opulent Chardonnay is well-balanced, showing a lovely acidity.Its long finish is soft, elegant and silky. We recommend enjoying the Salentein Barrel Selection Chardonnay on its own as an aperitif but also to accompany a good meal.
