The Steenberg Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc from Constantia, South Africa, combines fresh Sauvignon Blanc aromas with the complexity of a white wine carefully matured in wood.

This white wine is a matured Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa, 80% of which was aged in large French oak barrels and 20% in concrete barrels. This gives the wine its unique character, which is immediately recognizable both on the nose and on the palate. Notes of nectarine, grapefruit and blackcurrant dominate here. The Steenberg Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc tastes wonderfully creamy and round. The overall mouthfeel is characterized by a present acidity and a consistent spiciness. The finish is long-lasting and mineral.

The intense fruit character makes this dry white wine an ideal accompaniment to white meat, Thai curry or seafood. This Sauvignon Blanc also complements cheese with a salty note wonderfully.

Beautifully clear with a distinctive green tinge. Hints of gooseberries, crushed nettle and grapefruit with lively acidity.Grapes were harvested early in the morning. After hand sorting the grapes, 6 hours skin contact was allowed at 10°C. The grapes were gently pressed and only free run juice was used to settle overnight. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature at 12.5°C. The wine spent 6 months on its lees before blending.Enjoy now or within 3-4 years of harvest.Serve with Mediterranean tomato based pasta dishes or lemon based roast chicken.
