Backsberg Merlot has a ruby rot colour. Pungent aromas of raspberry and red plums are tempered by the deft use of French oak maturation. This wine is redolent on the palate with succulent, sweet fruit flavours and finely coated in ripe mouth filling tannins. Smokey and savoury oak characters provide a subtle background to this complex and well balanced Merlot.

The wine pairs well with dishes such as duck, lamb, sirloin steak and pastas. Also a great accompaniment to chocolate and mint desserts.

Es ist nur ein kleiner Block, der dicht bepflanzt wurde und im wesentlich auf Lehm gründet. Zur Gärung und Reifung über 24 Monate wurden französische Eichenfässer verwendet. Der Cape of Good Hope Parel Vallei Farmstead Merlot kommt nach weiteren 24 Monate auf der Flasche auf den Markt. Die Nase verführt mit Düften von Pflaume, Kirsche, Maulbeeren und exotischen Gewürzen. Dazu Minze und ein Hauch Kakaopulver. Am Gaumen ist der Rotwein wunderbar fruchtig, weich und ausgewogen. Er besticht durch seine Saftigkeit und Spritzigkeit mit viel roter und schwarzer Frucht. Ein lebhafter, saftiger Merlot, der durch Zugänglichkeit, enorme Tiefe und Kraft überzeugt. Dabei sind die Tannine ausgezeichnet integriert und unterstützen die Komplexität bis zum langen Abgang.Der Cape of Good Hope Parel Vallei Farmstead Merlot begleitet kräftiges Essen ganz hervorragend. Der Drostdy-Hof Merlot hat eine tiefrote Farbe und ist geprägt von Erdbeer- und Kirscharomen. Der trockene Rotwein lagerte für kurze Zeit im Holzfass, was ihm zusätzliche Noten von Vanille und Kräutern verleiht. Die typische Fruchtigkeit der Rebsorte Merlot findet sich auch hier wieder.
