Pinot Gris from the Kaiserstuhl: always a revelation. The Landerer Kaiserstuhl Grauburgunder vom Löss is a great example of this. Germany's warmest region, northwest of Freiburg in Breisgrau, is characterized by volcanic rock and is therefore the ideal location for highly aromatic white wines.
The Landerer Grauburgunder vom Löss trocken has a wonderfully cool, fresh aroma of pome fruit, especially crunchy apples. There are also notes of almonds and fine floral nuances on the nose. On the palate, this white wine from Baden is dry and full-bodied, aromatically juicy, with beautiful minerality and spice. The notes from the bouquet also characterize the aromas on the palate.
The Pinot Gris from the Kaiserstuhl was matured in stainless steel tanks. The winery itself describes the "fermentation stop through strong cooling", so that the fruit sweetness is retained. The white wine was aged for several months in steel tanks on the fine lees.
Johannes Landerer and his team run the Landerer winery in Vogtsburg am Kaiserstuhl. The outstanding white and red wines have received numerous awards from renowned magazines in recent years.
The Landerer Grauburgunder vom Löss trocken is a good starting point for discovering the world of Landerer wines. Try this German white wine at a drinking temperature of 8 to 10 degrees. The light straw-yellow Pinot Gris is a good accompaniment to fish dishes and white meat, but is also an excellent choice as an aperitif.
