Pinot Noir from South Africa

Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 2024

The low-vigour, stony, clay-rich soil, cool maritime mesoclimate, naturally tiny yields of under 30 hl/ha and the philosophy of expressing our terroir in the wines give rise to a certain tightness, tannin line and elevated length to balance the richness and generosity of this Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir is not overtly fruity, soft and sweet and it generally shows hints of that alluring primal character along with a dark, spicy, complex primary fruit perfume.Suitable for vegans.

Haute Cabrière Arnim Family Reserve 2022

An unusual composition: in the Haute Cabrière Arnim Family Reserve, the Haute Cabrière wine estate combines the Syrah (Shiraz) and Pinot Noir grape varieties. The result is a red wine from South Africa that has a lot to offer. Intense notes of red fruits (ripe cherries, cassis) on the nose, plus blueberries and a fine spice and barrique note (cedar wood). On the palate, this blend from the Franschhoek Valley is wonderfully balanced, with soft tannins and a stimulating freshness and length. The Haute Cabrière Arnim Family Reserve matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 10 percent of which were new barrels. In 1982, Achim von Arnim took over the traditional wine estate in the French-influenced Franschhoek Valley, which was founded in 1694. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir creations in particular have established the excellent reputation of the winery.Enjoy this blend from South Africa with mild, creamy soft cheese, Asian cuisine (curry) and beef or lamb.

Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2025

The Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Pinot Noir is an exceptional white wine with a hint of rosé, combining the freshness of Chardonnay with the fruity finesse of Pinot Noir. Inspired by the tradition of Champagne production, this South African blend from Franschhoek brings refined elegance to the glass. The grapes come from the sun-drenched vineyards of Franschhoek, one of South Africa’s most renowned wine regions. Chardonnay contributes freshness and minerality, while Pinot Noir provides structure and subtle red fruit notes. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed, with the Pinot Noir imparting only a hint of color to the wine. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and primary aromas. A brief aging on the fine lees lends the wine additional depth and a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel. In the glass, the Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Pinot Noir displays a delicate, salmon-colored hue. The nose is enticed by aromas of red berries, citrus fruits, and a hint of white peach. On the palate, the wine is lively, elegant, and perfectly balanced, with pleasant acidity and subtle minerality. The finish is long-lasting and refreshing. This versatile white wine is an ideal accompaniment to a wide variety of dishes. It pairs exceptionally well with seafood, sushi, grilled fish, and summer salads. It also impresses with its refreshing lightness when served with light poultry dishes or as an elegant aperitif.Enjoy this unique Chardonnay-Pinot Noir blend well-chilled at about 8–10 °C.

Haute Cabrière Tranquille Classic

The Haute Cabrière Tranquille Classic is an exceptional wine from Franschhoek, South Africa, which looks like a rosé at first glance, but deliberately sets itself apart from the classic category. The cuvée of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, inspired by a French champagne without a second fermentation, presents itself in a delicate salmon hue and elegantly combines fruit and freshness. The glass reveals a subtle aroma of red berries, citrus fruits and a hint of exotic fruit, underpinned by fine minerality. On the palate, the wine is light, dry and wonderfully balanced, with a fresh, clear finish.Although it is reminiscent of a rosé in terms of color and style, Tranquille is not a classic rosé wine, but rather a still vinified Blanc de Noirs with a Chardonnay component, which combines the finesse of white grape varieties with the structure of Pinot Noir. This makes it an exciting, versatile companion - whether as an aperitif, with light summer dishes or simply on its own on a relaxed evening.
