The Dornier Malbec impressively demonstrates how expressive and full-bodied this grape variety in South Africa can be as a single varietal. With its thick-skinned berry and juicy texture, it develops intense aromas of dark berries, plums and fine violet notes, which are typical of Malbec. On the palate, it impresses with rich fruit, nuances of dark chocolate and a balanced tannin structure that leads to a long, harmonious finish.The grapes come from the Groenkloof farm on Stellenbosch Mountain, the highest vineyard on Dornier. The decomposed granite soils give the wine structure and elegance. The yield is deliberately kept low so that each berry can develop its full aroma - a real favorite not only for wine lovers, but also for the baboons that live there.Fermentation takes place in open stainless steel tanks with regular pumpovers. After alcoholic fermentation, the red wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for 24 months in French oak barrels. The result is a complex, full-bodied red wine with a fine balance between fruit and structure.Dornier Malbec is the ideal accompaniment to grilled meat such as beef or lamb, but also goes well with exotic dishes such as Thai roast or Cajun chicken and with vegetarian or meat empanadas, and it develops its full flavor best at a drinking temperature of 16 - 18 °C.

El Nido La Viña de Corteo 2022

El Nido La Viña del Corteo is one of the rarest and most impressive interpretations of Syrah in Spain. The wine comes from a small vineyard of just 1.8 hectares, which Chris Ringland had planted with Australian Syrah seedlings in 1998 - a project close to his heart within the El Nido portfolio. The vines grow at an altitude of around 700 meters, facing north/northeast, in order to preserve the natural freshness of the Syrah even in Jumilla's warm climate. Due to strict selection and the extremely limited vineyard area, production is only around 1,500 bottles per vintage.In the glass, La Viña del Corteo 2022 has a deep purple, dense color and is immediately lush and seductive. The bouquet opens with black fruits, black olives, spice and smoky roasted notes reminiscent of the concentrated style of warm Syrah regions. With a little air, black cherries, ripe blackberries and blackcurrants unfold, accompanied by a fine chocolaty nuance. Hall Ranch established itself in the early 1990s as a new winery that wanted to bring the pioneering spirit of California into the wine glass with a fresh spirit.In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red. The nose reveals aromas of dark berries, particularly blackcurrant and ripe cherry, complemented by subtle spicy notes, slight hints of vanilla, cocoa and toasted wood, which indicate that the wine has been aged in barrels. On the palate, the Hall Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and juicy, with pronounced fruit, well-integrated, soft tannins and a pleasant structure. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by gentle pump-overs. This red wine then matures for 22 months in small 225-liter French oak barrels, 15% of which are new, with regular ageing on the lees and malolactic fermentation, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.In the glass, the Miles Mossop Chapters Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep garnet red. Miles Mossop The Introduction Chenin Blanc is an elegant white wine from the Coastal region of South Africa that highlights the versatility and finesse of the Chenin Blanc grape. Miles Mossop places particular emphasis on precision craftsmanship: each grape is harvested at the perfect point of ripeness and carefully guided through the natural winemaking process to create expressive, fresh and balanced wines - wines that impress with personality.For this cuvée, the grapes are harvested by hand at different times to optimally preserve both the fresh stone fruit notes and the riper yellow fruit notes of Chenin Blanc - without losing acidity or freshness. The fruit comes from old, unirrigated bush and trellis vineyards in Stellenbosch (84%) and the Swartland (16%). 80% of the wine fermented in stainless steel tanks, 18% in old French oak barrels and 2% in a concrete egg. After around three weeks of fermentation on natural yeasts, the wine matured on the lees for six months before being blended and bottled.In the glass, the Introduction Chenin Blanc has a brilliant, pale straw yellow color. The nose is complex, with aromas of white flowers, yellow peach, pineapple and citrus notes. Fresh yellow fruit opens up on the palate, complemented by grapefruit and stone fruit notes. The mid-palate is creamy, clearly structured and leads to a textured, slightly tart finish with a lively freshness.This wine is ideal on its own or as an accompaniment to light poultry and fish dishes, Mediterranean dishes or summer salads. Each vintage is an expression of the special conditions of the vineyard and tells the story of its terroir.This top-class cuvée combines 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc from carefully selected, mostly unirrigated and low-yielding vineyards in Stellenbosch. The grapes are harvested by hand, cooled overnight, sorted into bunches and berries and then gently placed in small wooden and stainless steel tanks. After cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation takes place for up to 14 days, accompanied by gentle pump overs and punch downs. After fermentation, the wine matures in 225-liter French oak barrels, 22% of which are new, for 21 months with regular ageing on the lees and malolactic fermentation before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.In the glass, the MAX is a deep, dark garnet red. The nose exudes lush aromas of ripe black berries, underpinned by notes of dried herbs, cedar wood and tobacco.
