Miles Mossop The Introduction Chenin Blanc is an elegant white wine from the Coastal region of South Africa that highlights the versatility and finesse of the Chenin Blanc grape. Miles Mossop places particular emphasis on precision craftsmanship: each grape is harvested at the perfect point of ripeness and carefully guided through the natural winemaking process to create expressive, fresh and balanced wines - wines that impress with personality.

For this cuvée, the grapes are harvested by hand at different times to optimally preserve both the fresh stone fruit notes and the riper yellow fruit notes of Chenin Blanc - without losing acidity or freshness. The fruit comes from old, unirrigated bush and trellis vineyards in Stellenbosch (84%) and the Swartland (16%). 80% of the wine fermented in stainless steel tanks, 18% in old French oak barrels and 2% in a concrete egg. After around three weeks of fermentation on natural yeasts, the wine matured on the lees for six months before being blended and bottled.

In the glass, the Introduction Chenin Blanc has a brilliant, pale straw yellow color. The nose is complex, with aromas of white flowers, yellow peach, pineapple and citrus notes. Fresh yellow fruit opens up on the palate, complemented by grapefruit and stone fruit notes. The mid-palate is creamy, clearly structured and leads to a textured, slightly tart finish with a lively freshness.

This wine is ideal on its own or as an accompaniment to light poultry and fish dishes, Mediterranean dishes or summer salads. Served at 8-10 °C, it develops its aromas to optimum effect. Suitable for early consumption, it will continue to develop over 3 to 5 years.

The nose reveals floral notes of orange blossom and honeysuckle, complemented by hints of white peach, yellow fruit and subtle citrus notes. On the palate, the white wine impresses with full, rich fruit, a grippy medium body and a structured finish with roasted almonds and light citrus bitterness.The grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed and transferred to 400-liter old French oak barrels for spontaneous fermentation. The wine is then aged sur lie for 11 months with regular lees stirring and undergoes partial malolactic fermentation to develop depth, richness and complexity.The Miles Mossop Chenin Blanc is an excellent accompaniment to grilled fish, poultry dishes or light Mediterranean dishes.Served at 8-10 °C, it unfolds its full aroma. Each "chapter" tells its own story and reflects the characteristics of the vineyard.This single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon comes from an old vineyard in the Polkadraai Ward, growing on weathered granite and sandy loam soil with coffee stone gravel. The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted into bunches and berries and undergo a 5-day cold maceration. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by gentle pump-overs. This red wine then matures for 22 months in small 225-liter French oak barrels, 15% of which are new, with regular ageing on the lees and malolactic fermentation, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.In the glass, the Miles Mossop Chapters Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep garnet red. The nose reveals dark berry aromas, cassis, blackberries, dried herbs, tobacco spice and a hint of vanilla. Each vintage is an expression of the special conditions of the vineyard and tells the story of its terroir.This top-class cuvée combines 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc from carefully selected, mostly unirrigated and low-yielding vineyards in Stellenbosch. The grapes are harvested by hand, cooled overnight, sorted into bunches and berries and then gently placed in small wooden and stainless steel tanks. After cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation takes place for up to 14 days, accompanied by gentle pump overs and punch downs. After fermentation, the wine matures in 225-liter French oak barrels, 22% of which are new, for 21 months with regular ageing on the lees and malolactic fermentation before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.In the glass, the MAX is a deep, dark garnet red. The nose exudes lush aromas of ripe black berries, underpinned by notes of dried herbs, cedar wood and tobacco. The palate reveals a full-bodied, rich wine with grippy, fine tannins, a powerful center and a long, complex finish with nuances of Italian herbs, cedar and tobacco leaf.This red wine is particularly suitable with slow-cooked lamb dishes, grilled rib-eye steak with marrow, oxtail stew or strong hard cheeses. Chenin Blanc, der charaktervolle Weißwein, erreicht vor allem in Südafrika immer wieder herausragende Qualitäten. Der Waterford Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2020 ist das perfekte Beispiel dafür. Zum Teil sind in dem Weißwein Trauben von Reben verarbeitet, die 1966 angepflanzt wurden, also vor mehr als 50 Jahren. (Die zweite Lage wurde 1978 angepflanzt) Eine faszinierende aromatische Konzentration zeichnet diesen Weißwein aus der Stellenbosch-Region aus. Wenn Sie so wollen: Mit dem Alter lernt man immer mehr, sich auf die entscheidenden Dinge zu konzentrieren.   Intensiv fruchtige Noten von Birne, Grapefruit und Pfirsich prägen das Bouquet. Harmonische Noten von Honig und florale Töne vervollständigen den Duftstrauß. Am Gaumen ist der Waterford Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2020 trocken, vielschichtig und angenehm weich, mit einer anregenden Mineralität und aromatischen Tiefe. Das Finale ist herrlich frisch-fruchtig. Der in einem sanften Grüngelb schimmernde Chenin Blanc aus dem Blaauwklippen-Tal wurde größtenteils im Betonei ausgebaut und zu einem sehr kleinen Anteil in alten Eichenfässern. Meryl Weaver vergibt für den Waterford Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2020 in John Platter’s Wine Guide 91 Punkte (4,5 von 5 Sternen). Ihr Gesamturteil: „Reife Birne & Steinobst mit weicher, cremiger Textur aus zwei alten Weinbergen (1966 & 1978).
