The Leggenda Gold Series Primitivo di Manduria DOP from Vigneti del Salento exemplifies the powerful yet elegant style of southern Italy. The Primitivo grapes come from bush vines that are over 70 years old and grow on iron-rich, red soil with a chalky subsoil - conditions that give the wine its special depth, concentration and expressiveness.After harvesting, the slightly overripe grapes are gently processed and fermented on the skins at a controlled temperature for ten to twelve days. After malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for twelve months in American and French barriques, which gives it structure, spice and fine roasted aromas without masking the fruit.In the glass, the Leggenda Gold Series Primitivo di Manduria DOP is ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense and multi-layered, characterized by ripe cherries and blackberries, accompanied by mint, tobacco and a subtle spiciness. On the palate, the wine is soft, full-bodied and harmonious, with hints of cocoa and coffee in the long, lingering finish.This Primitivo is the ideal accompaniment to spicy barbecue dishes, aromatic curries or hearty vegetarian dishes such as lentil ragouts. It is particularly harmonious at a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C, where the fruit, spice and woody notes develop to their full potential.
