Delheim Merlot 2023

The Delheim Merlot grapes come from vines up to 20 years old from a vineyard called Peperboom Vineyard. The Peperboom, which means pepper tree or pepper bush, was originally planted here. The grapes were harvested in two stages in order to achieve the maximum concentration of tannins and color. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks using selected yeast strains. The temperature during the fermentation process was between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius. The juice was then stored on the skins for a further 18 days and then matured for 12 months in French oak barrels.Notes of tobacco, red fruits with cloves and cinnamon are clearly recognizable on the nose. The Delheim Merlot is an elegant wine with a subtle structure and silky tannins. Full-bodied on the palate with an unusual freshness reminiscent of blueberry and plum flavors.Ageing in the bottle for 3 to 4 years allows the wine to reach optimum maturity. Certainly a delight with roast chicken or mushroom soup.

Diemersdal Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2025

The Diemersdal Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is an elegant cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Diemersdal winery in the Western Cape. The grapes ripen on exposed northern slopes in red Hutton soils, under the influence of cool Atlantic breezes, which gives them intense fruit and fine structure.After being harvested by hand, the grapes are vinified separately and then matured for eight months in French oak, developing velvety tannins and a harmonious depth.In the glass, the red wine presents itself with aromas of cherries, mulberries and dark chocolate, powerful and elegant on the palate with a long, soft finish.The Diemersdal Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot goes perfectly with grilled dishes, spicy poultry or roast pork. Diemersdal Private Collection 2023

This composition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as smaller proportions of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc has a complex aroma of blackberry, cherry and cassis as well as eucalyptus, licorice and notes of dark chocolate, cedar wood, fine oak wood aromas and vanilla. On the palate, the Diemersdal Private Collection is elegant and powerful, with great structure. Soft, sweetish tannins and the skillfully integrated wood note give the wine additional character.John Platter's Wine Guide gives this Diemersdal creation 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars. Dornier Donatus Red 2019

The Donier Donatus is a masterful cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, sourced exclusively from the Dornier vineyard on the sun-drenched slopes of Stellenbosch Mountain. The unique combination of red, weathered granite soil and clay-rich soils ensures that the grapes ripen slowly and evenly. The result is a profound wine of impressive concentration and fine elegance.The hand-picked grapes are carefully selected in the cellar and fermented separately. Fermentation takes place in open fermentation vats with pumping over four times a day to ensure optimum extraction while preserving the fruit aromas. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, a third of which are new barrels - this gives the wine a fine spiciness and complexity without masking the freshness. The harmonious blending only takes place after maturation, so that only the best components make it into the bottle.In the glass, Donier Donatus impresses with an intense black-violet color and a multi-faceted aroma of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry. Subtle notes of licorice, dark cherry and cedar wood give the wine additional depth. On the palate, Donatus is elegant and balanced, with silky tannins that provide a pleasant structure. Eikendal Cabernet Merlot 2022

The Eikendal Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot is a powerful red wine cuvée in the classic Bordeaux style - full of character, full-bodied and typical of the renowned Stellenbosch wine region. The nose is dominated by ripe aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants, complemented by notes of cassis and a subtle earthiness, which are particularly typical of Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the wine impresses with concentrated, fleshy fruit, fine-meshed tannins and a perfect balance of fruity richness and spicy, sweetish toasted aromas of French oak.The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards on mineral-rich "Koffieklip" soil with a clay subsoil - ideal conditions for complex, long-lasting wines. The vines, planted in 2004, are trained using the vertical shoot position system with sparse irrigation in order to achieve particularly concentrated berries. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand into small crates, followed by cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation and gentle pressing. The wine matures for 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels (15% of which are new) before being bottled unfiltered.This elegant cuvée harmonizes perfectly with beef carpaccio, braised beef rib or a creamy curry dish. Ideally served at 18-20 °C.Ready to drink now, with potential for a further 10 years of ageing.

With the Eikendal Classique, the renowned wine estate from Stellenbosch presents a masterful Bordeaux-style cuvée. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine ages for 15 months in French oak barrels of varying ages.
