The Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend is a red wine from South Africa, which is primarily characterized by the Shiraz (Syrah) grape variety with almost 50%. The high-quality blend, matured in French oak, is completed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Pinotage.

The intense, complex bouquet of the ruby red wine combines notes of cherries, blackberries, mulberries and plums. This fruitiness harmonizes wonderfully with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate as well as lingering oak notes. Rudman recognizes "dark fruits, tobacco and hearty spices".

On the palate, the Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend is dry and masterfully balanced. The blend has a full body, pleasantly soft tannins and a dense structure. The aroma is characterized by juicy, black fruits, which harmonize wonderfully with aromas of tobacco and graphite. "The tannin backbone gives definition and focus," says Rudman. The finish lingers for a long time.

This red wine from Babylonstoren - located between Paarl and Stellenbosch, around 50 kilometers east of Cape Town - was aged for a year in 300-litre French oak barrels. The barrels used were 30% new and 70% second and third fill.

Enjoy the Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend at a drinking temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. It is a fine accompaniment to leg of wild boar cooked at a low temperature or to grilled lamb chops with rosemary.

This impenetrable ruby red Shiraz (Syrah) from South Africa is fruity and impressively fresh. At the same time, it impresses with a fine spiciness thanks to its long maturation in oak. Wine critic Christine Rudman was also impressed by the Babylonstoren Shiraz. She awards the Shiraz from the Cape 4 out of 5 stars in John Platter's Wine Guide.The bouquet combines intensely fruity notes of blackcurrants and cherries with spicy notes of black and white pepper and leather. The bouquet is underpinned by perfectly harmonizing woody notes. Rudman chooses these words: "Wonderfully perfumed, elegant berries and cherries, mixed spices with white pepper."The Babylonstoren Shiraz is dry on the palate, with a full body and supple, masterfully integrated tannins. The aromatic complexity is wonderful: flavours of cherries, plums and blackcurrants in fine interplay with nuances of chocolate and an underlying spiciness. The velvety mouthfeel and long-lasting finish round off the flavour experience. Rudman: ‘The 2020 surprises with a streamlined body, juicy & supple.’This South African Shiraz was matured in oak for a total of 18 months. The white wine has a stimulating, fresh and fruity aroma of white peach, guava, ripe pineapple, lemon curd and winter melon (wax gourd): a seductively multi-faceted bouquet.On the palate, the Babylonstoren Chenin Blanc is dry, crisp, fresh and wonderfully aromatic. The variety of tropical fruits is underpinned by aromas of gooseberries and pears. Masterfully balanced, with a fine play of acidity.A small proportion of this elegant South African white wine (10%) was matured in 4000-liter French oak barrels as well as in Nomblot concrete eggs and terracotta clay amphorae.Enjoy the Chenin Blanc at a drinking temperature of 10 to 12 degrees. This fruity, fresh bouquet is underpinned by a subtle oak spice.On the palate, the Viognier from the Cape is dry and pleasantly soft, with a beautiful depth. The makers of Babylonstore write: "Glides across the palate with a beautiful balance between the floral characteristics and the rich texture." An elegant white wine that fully brings out the advantages and distinctiveness of Viognier.20% of the white wine was fermented and matured for seven months in 300-liter second and third fill French oak barrels, 10% in large 4100-liter French oak barrels.The result is a complex and soft Viognier from South Africa with a perfect balance of fruit and wood spice, which is ideal as a food companion. Enjoy the white wine chilled at 10 to 12 degrees. It goes wonderfully with a mild chicken curry with coconut milk or a vegetable curry with turmeric and ginger as well as saffron rice. Der Babylonstoren Candide ist eine Komposition aus allen weißen Rebsorten, die auf den Lagen des Weingutes heranreifen, das zwischen Paarl und Stellenbosch liegt.Das Bouquet ist anregend frisch-fruchtig. Der Candide duftet nach tropischen Früchten wie Ananas, Limetten und Melonen. Dazu kommen feinen Nuancen von Geißblatt, die den Duftstrauß abrunden. Am Gaumen ist dieser südafrikanische, Chenin Blanc-geprägte Wein trocken und zugleich herrlich knackig-frisch, mit mittlerem Körper und einem fruchtbetonten Aromenspiel sowie einer tragenden, frischen Säure. „Mit einer unterschwelligen Bienenwachs-Seidigkeit, die vom Sémillon herrührt“, formulieren die Macherinnen und Macher des Babylonstoren Candide.
