The Anthonij Rupert Protea Rosé is a classic rosé in the Provence style. The grapes were selected by hand and aged in stainless steel tanks. The grapes for the Anthonij Rupert Protea Shiraz come from vineyards in the Darling region. A region in South Africa with predominantly sandy, clay and loamy soils. Soils on which the Shiraz grape thrives particularly well.The red wine has an intense dark red color. It smells wonderfully of ripe plums, black cherries, spices and dark earth. Complemented by a delicate smoky note, these aromas also continue on the palate. The taste of Protea Shiraz is reminiscent of blueberries, plums, cloves, aniseed and a subtle hint of fire. Der hochwertige, in französischem Eichenholz ausgebaute Blend wird von Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot und Pinotage vervollständigt. Das Ergebnis ist ein Rotwein, der im Endergebnis des Jahrgangs 2021 „bewundernswert“ ist. Dieses Urteil stammt von Christine Rudman, die dem Babel Red Blend in John Platter’s Wine Guide 4 von 5 Sternen verleiht. Das intensive, komplexe Bouquet des rubinroten Weins vereint Noten von Kirschen, Brombeeren, Maulbeeren und Pflaumen. Diese Fruchtigkeit harmoniert wunderbar mit Noten von Vanille, dunkler Schokolade sowie tragenden Eichennoten. Rudman erkennt „dunkle Früchte, Tabak und herzhafte Gewürze“.Am Gaumen ist der Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend trocken und meisterhaft ausgewogen. This impenetrable ruby red Shiraz (Syrah) from South Africa is fruity and impressively fresh. At the same time, it impresses with a fine spiciness thanks to its long maturation in oak. Wine critic Christine Rudman was also impressed by the Babylonstoren Shiraz. She awards the Shiraz from the Cape 4 out of 5 stars in John Platter's Wine Guide.The bouquet combines intensely fruity notes of blackcurrants and cherries with spicy notes of black and white pepper and leather. The bouquet is underpinned by perfectly harmonizing woody notes. Rudman chooses these words: "Wonderfully perfumed, elegant berries and cherries, mixed spices with white pepper."The Babylonstoren Shiraz is dry on the palate, with a full body and supple, masterfully integrated tannins. The aromatic complexity is wonderful: flavours of cherries, plums and blackcurrants in fine interplay with nuances of chocolate and an underlying spiciness. The velvety mouthfeel and long-lasting finish round off the flavour experience. Babylonstoren used 70% new and 30% second-fill French oak barrels (300 litres) for this high-quality Syrah. The Beyerskloof Synergy is a Cape blend like no other. As one of the first of its kind in South Africa, it combines the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the fruitiness of Pinotage and the softness of Merlot. A small proportion of Shiraz gives the red wine its spice and minerality. The wine matured for 14 months in first (10%), second and third fill French oak barrels.The color of the Beyerskloof Synergy Cape Blend is dark red and slightly shiny ruby red at the edges. Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal 2021

Vielschichtige, intensiv fruchtige Noten von getrockneten Kirschen, dunklen Pflaumen und Datteln prägen das Bouquet des Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal 2020. Der faszinierend komplexe Duftstrauß bietet darüber hinaus Noten von Tabak und grünen Oliven, dazu Nuancen von Trüffel und Menthol.In John Platter’s Wine Guide erhält dieser Rotwein aus Südafrika 93 Punkte. Kritikerin Cathy Marston erkennt Kirschfrucht, Leder, Wild und Würze.Auch am Gaumen hinterlässt dieser ungewöhnliche Blend aus 41% Sangiovese, 26% Nebbiolo, 5% Barbera, 14% Shiraz, 11% Pinot Noir, 3% Mourvedre Eindruck. Der trockene Rotwein aus dem Hemel-en-Aarde-Tal, unweit der Walker Bay im Südatlantik, hat einen mittleren Körper und zugleich eine wunderbar anregende Säure. Die geschmeidigen Tannine sind gekonnt eingebunden. Das Finale wird von einer schönen Würze getragen und klingt noch lange nach. Noch bis 2032 ist der Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal ein Hochgenuss.Die einzelnen, akribisch gelesenen Rebsorten wurden separat in französischen Eichenfässern ausgebaut, in denen sie fast ein Jahr lang heranreiften. Dabei kamen zu fast einem Viertel neue Fässer zum Einsatz. Nach zahlreichen Tastings kreierte Bouchard Finlayson dann einen finalen Blend, der noch einige Monate nachreifte, bevor er in Flaschen abgefüllt wurde.Die Namensgebung leitet sich etwas speziell her: Da in diesem südafrikanischen Rotwein prägende Rebsorten des Weinbaus in Italien und Frankreich assembliert werden, soll der Name Hannibal an den karthagischen Feldherrn erinnern. Er überquerte in einem legendären Feldzug mit einer größeren Zahl an Elefanten im dritten Jahrhundert vor Christus die Alpen von Frankreich nach Italien, um einem römischen Angriff zuvorzukommen (Zweiter Punischer Krieg).Der Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal 2020 ist eine herausragende Komposition des südafrikanischen Weinbaus. Der rubinrote Wein zeichnet sich auch dadurch aus, dass er ein vielseitig einsetzbarer Essensbegleiter ist. Entdecken Sie ihn zum Beispiel zur indischen Küche oder zu Ziegenkäse auf Brioche-Toast. Wer etwas Außergewöhnliches probieren möchte: Auch zu Fisch Vindaye, typisch für die Küche in Mauritius, ist der Rotwein aus der Provinz Westkap ein idealer Begleiter. Aber auch die klassische, würzige italienische Küche bietet sich an.
