Das 110 Hektar große Gut Château Rieussec verfügt über 68 Hektar Rebfläche. Es hat eine traditionsreiche Geschichte, die weit zurückreicht. Im 18. Jahrhundert gehörte die Domaine de Rieussec zum Mönchskloster Carmes de Langon. Die Fläche liegt auf den höchsten Arealen der Gemeinde Fargues. Bei der Klassifizierung von 1855 wurde die Qualität der Lage von Château Rieussec als Premier Cru Classé von Sauternes und Barsac gewürdigt.In dem Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes werden die für einen Sauternes typischen Trauben Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc und Muscadelle vereint. Die Gärung findet in Eichenfässern statt. Danach reifte der Wein für 18 Monate in französischen Eichenfässern.Der Wein vom Château Rieussec, gelegen in der Appellation Sauternes in der Weinbauregion Bordeaux, ist von klarer, blassgoldener Farbe. Die Nase umschmeicheln Aromen von Mango und Ananas, sowie Noten von Eiche aus der Fassreifung. Der Geschmack ist voller Süße: Honig, Nüsse und ein Hauch von Karamel.Besonders geeignet als Dessertwein, der gut zu Obstdesserts, Blauschimmelkäse, Pasteten und Entenleber passt.

The Chateau de Malle Sauternes AOC offers intense notes of citrus fruit and, according to René Gabriel, lots of freshly extracted honey. This Sauternes is fresh, creamy and invigorating on the palate, underpinned by a lovely acidity. Twenty-five per cent of this assemblage, consisting mainly of Sémillon and almost one third of Sauvignon Blanc, was aged in new oak casks. Neil Martin awards this wine 91-93 points in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and writes, amongst other things, ‘This is simply a Sauternes of top quality, both elegant and graceful.’ René Gabriel awards this wine 18 out of 20 points and assesses it as follows: ‘With regard to the nose, this is one of the most sumptuous Sauternes. It is creamy on the palate, with lots of suppleness and a wonderfully fruity finish. The Chateau de Malle Sauternes AOC easily keeps pace with the great wines!’You’ll enjoy this dessert wine with spicy dishes such as chicken curry or duck with peaches. It is also a good accompaniment to various cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort and goes beautifully with salads with strawberries and basil.

Fragrant notes of quince, honey, peach, vanilla and yellow damson characterize the multi-layered bouquet of the Chateau Nairac Barsac 2011. This impressive sweet wine from the Sauternes region is initially oily on the palate with a fine acidity. René Gabriel assesses it as follows: “This wine shows quite an intense sweetness, atypical for a Barsac. On the palate, it is fat outside and delicately peppery on the inside, somewhat polarizing with regard to sweetness and acidity, with an oily flow. However, before the wine becomes too heavy, the inner minerality balances it out. This is undoubtedly once again a truly great Nairac.” According to Gabriel, this Nairac can be declared a wine of the century.
