The designation "<CL" stands for "Cool Climate" and refers to the special microclimate of the Banghoek Valley. Here, cool mountain winds and mineral-rich soils ensure that the grapes ripen slowly, giving the wine elegance, depth and a remarkable freshness.The cuvée consists of a harmonious selection of classic grape varieties, which are matured in French oak barrels over a period of 16 months. The Oldenburg Vineyards Rhodium is a noble Bordeaux cuvee from the esteemed South African wine region of Stellenbosch. Named after the rare precious metal, this wine stands for precision, elegance and exceptional quality. Oldenburg Vineyards uses the unique terroir around the striking Rondekop hill to produce wines of impressive depth and finesse.The cuvee is based on Merlot and Cabernet Franc, supplemented by a 10% share of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from high-altitude, well-ventilated vineyards, which allow for slow ripening and thus ensure concentrated aromas. After careful manual harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place to preserve the fine fruit. The wine then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, a large proportion of which are new. This gives it an impressive structure and elegant spiciness.In the glass, the Oldenburg Vineyards Rhodium is a bright ruby red with purple reflections. Opus One 2014

The Opus One of the 2013 vintage had already set standards, and that despite the fascinatingly high quality of these wines. Opus One 2018

Opus One, the Californian high-flyer and joint child of wine legends Mondavi and Rothschild, is now producing an incomparable series of top vintages in succession. 2018 does not break this streak, but seamlessly continues and even surpasses some of the previous years.This is due in particular to the mild and very consistent weather conditions in 2018, which, apart from a little rain before bud break, were ideal and above all did not show the excessive heat that has often been seen in Napa Valley recently.The Opus One 2018 consists of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec and was aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels.Creamy, deep and heavenly fruity are associations that are often heard in connection with Opus One. The 2018 Opus One is no exception. The nose is black berry, cassis, lots of black cherry and blackberry, followed by elegant notes of violet, white pepper and rose petals. The seductive bouquet is supported by further aromas of black fruit, orange peel, licorice and dark chocolate. Everything is wonderfully balanced, with beautifully polished and round tannins. The finish is almost infinitely long.As is so often the case with Californians, the Opus One 2018 also manages to show a cellaring potential of several decades, but is still ready to drink very early. The 2020 vintage of Orma Toscana Rosso is another red wine from Tuscany that has been showered with praise by international wine critics. The Super Tuscan from the Sette Ponti winery easily clears the high 90-point hurdle in the wine ratings year after year.
