Opus One 2022

Opus One 2022 is a masterpiece of winemaking, created from the vision of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. This iconic blend from the heart of Napa Valley embodies uncompromising quality, sophistication and the perfect symbiosis of tradition and innovation - a red wine that will inspire generations.

The grapes ripen in carefully tended vineyards that are nurtured by experienced hands. After a rainy winter and a dry spring, the harvest required a precise approach: Ripe fruit was selectively harvested and irrigation was carefully adjusted. The result is a wine of exceptional freshness, expressiveness and incomparable elegance.

The blend consists of 80 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 8 % Petit Verdot, 6.5 % Cabernet Franc, 5 % Merlot and 0.5 % Malbec. After 20 days of maceration, the wine matures for 18 months in new French oak barrels, giving it depth, structure and velvety finesse.

The nose seduces with complex aromas of blueberries, cassis and dried rose petals, underpinned by subtle nuances of olives, cigar box and graphite. On the palate, bright red fruit, cocoa and fresh orange peel unfold into a harmonious, balanced ensemble. The long, elegant finish reveals nuances of wet stone, vanilla and a hint of coffee, while finely woven tannins and juicy maturity underline the ageing potential of this masterpiece.

Experience Opus One 2022 with fillet beef tenderloin, rack of lamb or mature hard cheese, served at 16-18 °C to fully appreciate the extraordinary complexity, depth and elegance of this unique wine.

Opus One

Opus One fasziniert Weinkenner in aller Welt.

Opus One 2018
Opus One, the Californian high-flyer and joint child of wine legends Mondavi and Rothschild, is now producing an incomparable series of top vintages in succession. 2018 does not break this streak, but seamlessly continues and even surpasses some of the previous years. This is due in particular to the mild and very consistent weather conditions in 2018, which, apart from a little rain before bud break, were ideal and above all did not show the excessive heat that has often been seen in Napa Valley recently. The Opus One 2018 consists of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec and was aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels.Creamy, deep and heavenly fruity are associations that are often heard in connection with Opus One. The 2018 Opus One is no exception. The nose is black berry, cassis, lots of black cherry and blackberry, followed by elegant notes of violet, white pepper and rose petals. The seductive bouquet is supported by further aromas of black fruit, orange peel, licorice and dark chocolate. Everything is wonderfully balanced, with beautifully polished and round tannins. The finish is almost infinitely long.As is so often the case with Californians, the Opus One 2018 also manages to show a cellaring potential of several decades, but is still ready to drink very early. This Opus One should be at its zenith from 2026, but can also be enjoyed before then by the very impatient after about 1 1/2 hours of decanting.Another brilliant and opulent Opus One that is as refined as it is full-bodied.Robert Parker: 98/100; James Suckling: 99/100; Jane Anson: 98/100; Jeb Dunnuck: 97/100.

Opus One 2014
The Opus One of the 2013 vintage had already set standards, and that despite the fascinatingly high quality of these wines. The 97+ score awarded by Robert Parker in his Wine Advocate speaks for itself, and the 2014 vintage promises to be superlative as well. In any case, the internationally renowned wine critics James Suckling (97 points) and Antonio Galloni (95+) are also impressed. The bouquet of the Opus One 2014 is characterised by wonderfully intense notes of fresh garden herbs, forest floor, red cherries, blackberries and black currants, along with stimulating floral fragrances. This blend, consisting of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 2% Malbec, is velvety on the plate, with lovely deep aromas (dark fruit, black olives). The fine tannins show a silky texture and a complex structure, leading to an impressively long, fresh finish offering nuances of mocha. This masterpiece of Californian viticulture was aged for 18 months.
