Miles Mossop Max 2020

The Miles Mossop MAX comes from the South African wine estate Miles Mossop in Stellenbosch, which is known for handcrafted, terroir-driven wines of the highest quality. Miles Mossop's philosophy is clear: grapes from exceptional vineyards are harvested at optimum ripeness and guided through the natural winemaking process to produce expressive, individual wines - wines that he himself enjoys drinking. Each vintage is an expression of the special conditions of the vineyard and tells the story of its terroir.This top-class cuvée combines 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc from carefully selected, mostly unirrigated and low-yielding vineyards in Stellenbosch. The grapes are harvested by hand, cooled overnight, sorted into bunches and berries and then gently placed in small wooden and stainless steel tanks. After cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation takes place for up to 14 days, accompanied by gentle pump overs and punch downs. After fermentation, the wine matures in 225-liter French oak barrels, 22% of which are new, for 21 months with regular ageing on the lees and malolactic fermentation before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.In the glass, the MAX is a deep, dark garnet red. The nose exudes lush aromas of ripe black berries, underpinned by notes of dried herbs, cedar wood and tobacco. The palate reveals a full-bodied, rich wine with grippy, fine tannins, a powerful center and a long, complex finish with nuances of Italian herbs, cedar and tobacco leaf.This red wine is particularly suitable with slow-cooked lamb dishes, grilled rib-eye steak with marrow, oxtail stew or strong hard cheeses. Served at 16-18 °C, it unfolds its full spectrum of aromas.Miles Mossop MAX is a long-lived wine with ageing potential of up to 15 years from harvest and a perfect choice for special occasions or collections.

MONTES ALPHA"M" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A powerful wine with very good level of soft and rounded tannins. Intense dark red colour. The wine is elegant and has a very well defined character. The 5% of Petit Verdot is adding an extra element of complexity. There is an pleasant and harmonious marriage of fruit and the French oak. The structure of this wine will keep it for at least 20 years. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced, full-bodied and superbly voluptuous on the mid-palate with a rewarding, lingering after taste of mature grapes and acidity that reflects its superb structure.MONTES ALPHA "M" can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years (it will continue to improve in the bottle for at least 20 years).

Morgenster Lourens River Valley 2020

In line with tradition, Morgenster also produces a second Bordeaux-style wine in South Africa. The Morgenster Lourens River Valley is a blend consisting of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grape varieties, produced with the advisory assistance of Pierre Lurton from Chateau Cheval Blanc in Bordeaux. The philosophy aims at creating an accessible wine that particularly reflects the fruit aromas so typical of the terroir, and simultaneously ensuring longevity. The wine is a bright, opaque ruby-red in the glass. On the nose, it offers lovely cherry aromas, complemented by notes of strawberry tarts and cassis. After the Morgenster Lourens River Valley has breathed for a while, it shows aromas of liquorice, vanilla and spices, accompanied by fruity nuances of plums, mulberries and raspberries. The wine is silky and smooth on the palate, offering a delicious fruity sweetness. The elegant tannins develop a lovely balance between ripe berry aromas and a great freshness. Henry Kotze, cellar master at Morgenster, speaks of a worthwhile wine that gains in complexity after it is decanted.The Morgenster Lourens River Valley goes beautifully with roast duck, poultry and ostrich. It is also a perfect accompaniment to risotto with wild mushrooms or roast lamb.

Neethlingshof Caracal 2020

Der Neethlingshof Caracal ist ein Wein aus der Short Story Collection. Die Geschichte, die sich um diesen Wein rangt, zeigt den Einsatz des Weingutes für die Natur. Der Caracal ist ein afrikanischer Luchs (Rooikats). Die Wildkatzenart konnte durch gezielte Erhaltung und Sanierung der Lebensräume wieder auf der Farm angesiedelt werden. Jetzt wird dies durch das Label und den Namen des Weines gewürdigt. Die Farbe des Neethlingshof Caracal ist intensiv dunkelrot. In der Nase sind wunderschöne Pflaumen-, Johannisbeer- und Kirscharomen wahrnehmbar. Hinzu kommen Noten von Eichen- und Zedernholz sowie Vanilletöne. Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Wein körperreich, muskulös und weich. Die festen, aber geschmeidigen Tanninen tragen zur kräftigen Struktur bei. Der Caracal ist im Bordeaux-Stil ausgebaut und reifte für 16 Monate auf einer Kombination aus französischen und amerikanischen Holzfässern. Der trockene Rotwein passt hervorragend zu Steak, Ochsenschwanz, Beef Stroganoff, Ratatouille und gereiftem Käse.Der südafrikanische Wein ist vegan.
