Perfect as a gift: 1.5 liters of top South African wine in a gift tube.A super dark ruby red in the glass, almost opaque. A light orange hue shimmers at the edge of the glass. A smoky aroma rises to the nose. Then, with a little air, the bouquet develops into dark berries, yet not overloaded, but fresh and clear.An intense experience on the palate: the fruity notes from the nose are echoed on the palate and are reminiscent of black cherry and blackcurrant. Schon der Duft des Montecastro Ribera del Duero 2018 hinterlässt bei Weinliebhaberinnen und Weinliebhabern Eindruck. Der spanische Rotwein vereint in seinem Bouquet Noten von Waldbeeren, Pflaumen und Kirschen. Dazu kommen harmonische Noten von Lakritz und Eukalyptus sowie eine schöne mediterrane Würze (Thymian, Salbei) und Anklänge von Espresso und Schokolade.Am Gaumen ist der rubinrote Montecastro Ribera del Duero 2018 trocken, seidig und weich. The wine is elegant and has a very well defined character. The 5% of Petit Verdot is adding an extra element of complexity. There is an pleasant and harmonious marriage of fruit and the French oak. The structure of this wine will keep it for at least 20 years. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced, full-bodied and superbly voluptuous on the mid-palate with a rewarding, lingering after taste of mature grapes and acidity that reflects its superb structure.MONTES ALPHA "M" can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years (it will continue to improve in the bottle for at least 20 years).

The Montes Alpha Malbec comes from the vineyards of Apalta and Marchigüe in the Colchagua Valley, Chile. The granite soils with varying degrees of water retention capacity and the combination of fluvial and alluvial material give the wine balance and depth. Grapes from both regions are used equally for the Montes Alpha Malbec.The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected and destemmed. After maceration, controlled fermentation with selected yeasts takes place over 7-10 days. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for 12 months in French oak barrels (50% new) before the final blending.Deep carmine red with violet reflections. The nose reveals ripe fruit such as raspberries, blueberries, dried plums and black cherries, complemented by subtle notes of leather, smoke, vanilla and toasted wood. Velvety and balanced on the palate with a long, harmonious finish.The Montes Alpha Malbec is an excellent accompaniment to red and white meat, especially grilled pork or chicken with barbecue sauce, but also to stew, chili con carne or Mexican mole. The Montes Alpha Special Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon from the Colchagua Valley is a characterful red wine of international stature. It is produced on the Marchigüe estate, where the Cabernet Sauvignon vines thrive on stony, clayey soils with optimal water retention. The cuvée is complemented by small proportions of Syrah and Carmenère, which grow on the slopes and lend the wine additional depth and elegance.The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and carefully selected. After gentle destemming, fermentation takes place over 7 to 10 days before malolactic fermentation is carried out in concrete and stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 16 months in French oak, 60% of which is new wood - an ageing process that lends structure and complexity without masking the fruit.In the glass, the Montes Alpha Special Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep ruby red. On the nose, it develops an intense aroma of ripe plums, dark cherries and dried figs, complemented by spicy notes of black pepper, graphite, dark chocolate, leather and a hint of mocha. It impresses on the palate with great volume, a powerful structure and a harmonious balance of fruit, spice and wood. The Montes Alpha Syrah from the Vina Montes winery comes from Chile, from the Colchagua Valley region to be precise.
