Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo DOC comes from vineyards in south-western Sicily, in the hilly hinterland between Marsala and Salemi. Above-average temperatures in July favored the ripening process of the grapes. The large temperature differences between day and night have produced an extraordinary intensity of aroma in the grapes.This white wine from the typical Sicilian Grillo grape variety has notes of fruit with light flesh, especially peach. The bouquet is complemented by wonderfully animating notes of fresh field flowers and freshly cut grass. Wonderfully soft and pleasantly balanced on the palate.Grillo is an indigenous grape of Sicily, but "Grillo" (the cricket) is also a small animal that brings good luck. The name sur, which means cricket, comes from the classical Arabic language, which was also spoken in Sicily. This full-bodied Riesling has a fine minerality, is wonderfully fruity and offers a wonderful acidity.Especially the slopes of the vineyard called Leistenberg, located in a small valley of the Nahe near Oberhausen are marked by slate-soils. This is where most characterful Rieslings grow, which bear the name of the special soil.The Tonschiefer Dönnhoff Riesling comes from vines that are between 25 and 30 years old. The grapes were harvested to 100% by hand. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks and large oak casks, which explains the beautiful complexity of this white wine.

Das Alter der Reben aus erster Lage beträgt 10-40 Jahre. Der Höllenpfad liegt in rein südlicher Richtung und die warme Sonneneinstrahlung verleiht dem trockenen Wein eine faszinierende Struktur, Würze und Balance.Der deutsche Riesling kann wunderbar bei einer Trinktemperatur von 8-10 °C zu Huhn, Pute oder einer Käseauswahl genossen werden.
