The fruit for Sandstone Merlot comes from a gently sloping formation of hills running along the southeastern corner of the famous Livermore Valley. The Wente family’s hillside Merlot vineyards deliver fully ripened fruit with exceptional depth of character.

With a smooth mouthfeel and inviting tannins, this Merlot exhibits flavors of strawberry, cherry, blackberry
and fig with hints of toast, brown sugar and spice, with a long luscious finish.

Each varietal was harvested separately and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine was pumped over twice daily to increases the color and tannin extractions and improves mouthfeel through the integration of oxygen. Aged for 20 months in French and American neutral oak.

Enjoy this wine for grilling, with a chicken menu or with cheese.

Wente Vineyards wurde im Jahr 1883 gegründet und ist das älteste ununterbrochen bewirtschaftete Familienweingut Kaliforniens. Das 800 ha große Weingut wird heute in vierter und fünfter Generation von den Geschwistern Carolyn, Philip und Eric, sowie deren Kindern Christine und Karl Wente geführt.

Zum Weingut gehören auch ein Top-Restaurant, ein Golfplatz sowie das historische Weingut Murieta's Well. Im Park des Weingutes finden regelmäßig Konzerte namhafter Künstler wie UB 40 statt.

Nach erfolgreich abgeschlossenem Studium ist Karl Wente seit 2002 als Winemaker verantwortlich.

The Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend is complemented somewhat by the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The Cabernet Franc gives the red wine its light spiciness. The grapes for Cantina Tramin's Rungg all come from vineyards located to the south of the village of Tramin. The vines grow on hilly terrain at an altitude of around 300 meters. The soils have a gravelly subsoil, the soil above is clayey and calcareous. The terroir gives the wine from Italy a pleasant tannin structure and elegance. The wine is matured in barriques and larger wooden barrels to bring out the aromas.The color of the Rungg is garnet red. The dry wine has an intense aroma of cherry, redcurrant and dried fruit. Wonderfully round on the palate with chocolate aromas and light roasted flavors. The finish is long-lasting and powerful.Thanks to its full-bodied taste, the Cantina Tramin Rungg Merlot-Cabernet from South Tyrol is an excellent accompaniment to game dishes, roasts or well-matured cheese.

Ein Riesling aus Kalifornien. Das ist ungewöhnlich aber nicht unmöglich wie der Wente Riverbank Riesling aus den Weinbergen in Arroyo Seco Monterey beweist. Er hat die von Natur aus schönen, blumigen und tropischen Noten eines Rieslings ist stilistisch aber voller als man es von deutschen Rieslingen kennt. In der Nase zeigt er Aromen von frischem Jasmin, Mandarinen und etwas Birne. Am Gaumen hat er eine gute Balance zwischen leichter Süße und ausreichender Säure. Der Wein wird kaltgepresst in Edelstahltanks vergoren, um die natürlichen Aromen von tropischen Blumen zu erhalten. Danach reift er für sieben Monate in Edelstahltanks.

Es handelt sich um eine harmonische Cuvée aus insgesamt 7 Rebsorten, wobei Cabernet Sauvignon und Petit Verdot den Hauptanteil stellen. Im Glas präsentiert sich der Wente Mount Diablo Highlands Red Blend in einem tiefen Rubinrot und verströmt einladende Aromen von roten Früchten, besonders dunkle Kirsche und frische Pflaume.
