Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay

Wente Vineyards Chardonnay stands for the finest creations from the Livermore Valley near the San Francisco Bay. The morning coastal fog pushed by the Pacific winds to the vineyards of the traditional winery, lets mature the Chardonnay grapes very consistently. So wonderfully balanced wines develop with a beautiful minerality and acidity.The Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay is a blend of Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. On the nose it offers invigorating aromas of apples and tropical fruits, which are wonderfully complemented by flavors of vanilla and toast. On the palate, full-bodied and with nice acidity.The fresh, crisp white wine was aged for five months to 50% in American oak and to 50% in stainless steel tanks to emphasize the natural fruit flavors. The fruit for Sandstone Merlot comes from a gently sloping formation of hills running along the southeastern corner of the famous Livermore Valley. The Wente family’s hillside Merlot vineyards deliver fully ripened fruit with exceptional depth of character.With a smooth mouthfeel and inviting tannins, this Merlot exhibits flavors of strawberry, cherry, blackberryand fig with hints of toast, brown sugar and spice, with a long luscious finish.Each varietal was harvested separately and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine was pumped over twice daily to increases the color and tannin extractions and improves mouthfeel through the integration of oxygen. Delheim Grand Reserve 2015

In contrast to the 2014 vintage, the Delheim Grand Reserve 2015 consists of significantly higher percentages of Merlot. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which are predominant in this wine, come from three different vineyards located in the Stellenbosch region. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes grow on vineyards located on the slopes of the Klapmutskop Mountains. The vines for this wonderful cuvée are at least 10 years old, and some of them are more than 20 years old, ensuring exceptional depth and structure of the wine. To ensure optimal pre-selection, all the grapes were picked by hand.During the fermentation, the grapes were stirred three times a day to achieve maximal aroma extraction from the grapes. The whole process was carried out at controlled temperatures. After the three grape varieties were aged for 16 months, the maturity of the Merlot was decisive for the blending and therefore for the mixture of the final wine. Finally, the Delheim Grand Reserve matured for another 4 months in used 300-litre oak casks.On the nose, the brilliant, dark ruby-red wine pampers your senses with aromas of mint, cassis and truffle, rounded off by fine nuances of red berries. On the palate, the wine shows wonderful fruity notes which are preserved despite the wine’s immense fullness and power. The Delheim Grand Reserve 2015 goes beautifully with any luxurious meal and is also an ideal accompaniment to tangy cheeses.

The Francis Ford Coppola Director’s Cut Cabernet Sauvignon is, as the Americans would say, an outstanding wine from the Sonoma Valley. With this wine, the ‘director’ created ‘Hollywood at its finest’, in which small percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot join in as extras.Coppola puts special emphasis on those little things worthy of a Director’s Cut. A special, careful fermentation, 15 months of ageing in French and American oak casks and a meticulous selection of the grapes in each plot are the ‘special effects’ used by Coppola and his oenologist Cory Beck.The result is a powerful ‘epic’, offering aromas of black currants, plums and black cherries as well as notes of cigar-box on the nose. The wine is opulent and well-defined on the palate, showing lots of red and black fruit and notes of tobacco, leather and vanilla. Its finish is long-lasting and worthy of a ‘thrilling showdown’.All in all, the Francis Ford Coppola Director’s Cut Cabernet Sauvignon is a round and fruity delight, with lots of complexity, making this wine perfect to enjoy on its own.
