"Den Wein als Kunstwerk verstehen, von der Erde bis zum Glas". Danach lebt das Weingut Alvarez y Diez, das in Rueda gefestigt ist. Das spanische Weinanbaugebiet liegt in einer Hügellandschaft in Höhen von 600 bis 800 m. Die Böden sind sehr kieshaltig und bringen somit die stark mineralischen Töne in den Valmoro Rueda Verdejo Barrelfermented. Das in dieser Region vorherrschende Mikroklima ermöglicht eine Ernte der Trauben in den kühlen Morgenstunden. Hierdurch werden die natürlichen Säuren und frischen Fruchtaromen des Verdejos bewahrt.

Nach 24 stündiger Maischestandzeit bei kontrollierter Temperatur wird der Most gepresst. 80% des Rebsafts werden anschließend ebenfalls bei kontrollierten Temperaturen in Edelstahltanks vergoren. Die übrigen 20% gären für 18-20 Tage in 225 L Fäßern. Das Eichenholz, das Alvarez y Diez hierzu verwendet stammt aus verschiedenen Küfereien. Das Ergebnis ist ein Weißwein, der die Fruchtigkeit der Trauben respektiert, aber mit mehr Komplexität und einem guten Gleichgewicht zwischen Säure und Alkoholgehalt. Bevor der beliebte Weißwein in den Vertrieb kommt, reift er noch mindestens 8 Monate in der Flasche.

Im Glas zeigt sich der Alvarez y Diez Valmoro Rueda Verdejo Barrica in einer leuchtend strohgelben Farbe. In der Nase finden sich intensive Aromen von Limette, Birne, Ananas und Fenchel, grünen Kräutern und leicht getoasteter Eiche. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der Wein mit reifer tropischer Frucht, frischer Säure und mineralisch mit ausgewogenen Eichenaromen. Der Abgang ist lang und anhaltend mit einer ausgewogenen Säure.

Die Weine aus der Region Rueda in Spanien haben in den letzten Jahren große Aufmerksamkeit erzeugt. Dabei haben sie bereits eine lange Geschichte vorzuweisen, denn bis zum 16. Jahrhundert wurden Verdejo-Weine aus der Rueda am spanischen Königshof ausgeschenkt. Diese Weine stehen für prägnante Exotik-Aromen und sind besonders bei jüngeren Kunden äußerst beliebt. Die Weinberge liegen in einer Höhe von 600 bis 800 Meter rund um das Dorf Rueda. Die Böden sind kalksteinhaltig, auf denen die Rebsorten Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc und Viura perfekt gedeihen.

Juan de Benito, der die Bodegas Alvarez y Díez leitet, hat einen frischen und fruchtigen Stil entwickelt. Die Familie Benito hat einiges an Geschichte in Kastiliens Weinproduktion vorzuweisen. Der Vater von Juan de Benito gründete 1977 die heutige Bodega, die Juan seit 1992 führt. Das Weingut verfügt über 100 Hektar Weinberge.
