Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc - Steen op Hout

Pale yellow in colour with a hint of green.

On the nose, tinned pineapples, guavas, litchi, lemon and lime aromas are abundant. A clean, lively wine with nuances of nutmeg and cloves.

Well-balanced and elegant, but with weight and a powerful follow-through on the palate. Stylistically off-dry and lightly oaked this is an excellent food wine.

Product recommendation

Spier Signature Chenin Blanc
This chenin blanc is made from young vines of five years old, which are perfect for a delicious and refreshing dry wine, with lots of fruit. Only when the stakes get older, the wines get more concentration. By keeping the proceeds low, the wine gets a really nice solid and mineral character. Like the other wines in this series he gets after a fermentation process at low temperature aged for a few months on the yeast cells, which makes it nicely rich and firm of character. A delicious, smooth and crisp Chenin Blanc is the result.

Allesverloren Chenin Blanc
The grapes for the Allesverloren Chenin Blanc come from vineyards that are located more than 300 metres above sea level. The vineyards are exposed to the northwest and southeast, thus benefitting from optimal sunshine and giving the wine its special complexity and an enormous fullness. The wine has a clear, brilliant colour with light green glints. On the nose, it offers very fine nuances of coal, complemented by aromas of juicy apples and hints of lime. The Allesverloren Chenin Blanc is well-balanced, with restrained acidity. Nevertheless, it is lively, fresh and soft on the palate. The ripe notes of stone fruit particularly underscore this taste experience. We recommend serving this wine with light chicken dishes, summer salads or seafood.

Anthonij Rupert Protea Chenin Blanc
The Chenin Blanc from the Protea series by Anthonij Rubert shows the full class of the grape from South African cultivation. Wonderfully clear in the glass and with a slight sparkle, the appealing nose plays with notes of nectarine, light peach and ripe pear. On the palate, the wine is juicy and fresh with notes of stone fruit. The Protea Chenin Blanc tastes of watermelon and lively pear. The wine comes from the Swartland and Voor-Paardeberg growing regions and shows broad but gentle yeasty notes in the middle. An all-round well-balanced, delicious wine with a lingering finish. The Protea Chenin Blanc is recommended as a terrace wine on hot summer days as well as with crisp salads of all kinds.

Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc
Notes of peach, guava, peach and sweet melon characterize the bouquet of the Kleine Zalze Vineyard Chenin Blanc. There are also subtle nuances of vanilla and oak. On the palate, this Chenin Blanc from the Coastal region is very balanced and creamy, with an elegant acidity and a pleasant, underlying minerality. This fine white wine from South Africa matured for seven months in barriques. No new barrels were used to ensure that the unique characteristics of the specific terroirs were retained in the wine. This Chenin Blanc can be enjoyed now, but with careful cellaring it should age elegantly over the next 10 years. The dry wine is a suitable accompaniment to seafood and fish, asparagus and poultry.
