Stellenrust Sauvignon Blanc

A wonderful Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa from the Stellenrust winery. Many things come together here to give this white wine from the Western Cape region its exceptional quality.

The grapes for the Stellenrust Sauvignon Blanc come from bush vines that are around 40 years old. In addition, the grapes are harvested in three stages, depending on the degree of ripeness. One third is harvested at 74° Oechsle. These grapes give the white wine greener, fresher notes. The second and third third are harvested at 82° and 92° Oechsle respectively. They give the Sauvignon Blanc its tropical aromas. The three harvests are fermented separately.

Accordingly, the Stellenrust Sauvignon Blanc has a great bouquet that is both fruity and herbaceous. Notes of elderflower as well as pineapple, guava, passion fruit and grapefruit characterize the bouquet. It also has crisp, green aromas.

On the palate, this Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa has a crisp acidity with a mineral core. Fresh, zesty and balanced. With a good body and good length. The finish is characterized by tasty blackcurrant aromas.

Discover this white wine with a goat's cheese soufflé or a fresh salad with a honey and mustard dressing and seafood. Also a very good choice with asparagus with basil sauce.

Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc
The Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc consists of grapes that come from two different vineyards. One of the vineyards is already 19 years old and located 450 metres above sea level. The grapes from these vines give the wine its complexity. The vines that grow in the second vineyard are only 4 years old, giving the wine its freshness. In order to protect the grapes from heat stress, the harvest was carried out early in the morning. After repeated selection in the cellar, the grapes were pressed at a temperature of approximately 57.2 °F. The must remained in contact with the skin for about 6 hours. Subsequently, the wine was fermented at a temperature of 53.6 to 57.2 °F for a period of 10 days. On the nose, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc offers various aromas such as notes of green apple, Asian fruit, pears, white peach and lemon grass. It is soft and creamy on the palate, showing an intense minerality and a surprisingly long finish. Thanks to its vivid acidity, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc goes beautifully with goat’s cheese and seafood salads.

Rustenberg Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc
This wonderfully fresh Sauvignon Blanc has a nose hinting of tropical fruit, melon and gooseberries with subtle notes of pineapple and passion fruit. The South African white wine is comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. It is stimulating on the palate, with a great balance, a crisp acidity and a long, spicy finish. The grapes come from vineyards located in Stellenbosch, situated almost 600 metres above sea level. To bring its fruitiness into focus, the Rustenberg Sauvignon Blanc was deliberately not aged in wooden casks.
