The Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay is a wine that reflects both the terroir and the philosophy of Neil Ellis. The grapes for this Chardonnay come from the Elgin region. A region that is known for its coolness on the Cape and has the most favorable conditions in terms of climate and soil. On the other hand, the Whitehall Chardonnay is characterized by great purity, which is made possible by the meticulous work in the vineyard. The grapes were fermented 100% in barrique barrels. New barrels were used for 25% of this and the rest was processed in second and third-fill barrels. Maturation took place for 9 months in French oak barrels.

The color of the Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay is straw-like with light greenish reflections. The nose reveals typical Chardonnay aromas of nectarines, lemon and various floral notes. The palate is characterized by a wonderful harmony and structure. The balanced acidity beautifully balances out the use of wood. The wine is complex and rich in texture.

The Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment to food. This Chardonnay complements salmon and other seafood wonderfully.

Neil Ellis Wines gehört zu den Vorreitern der Qualitätsrevolution im Weinbau in Südafrika und hat sich ganz dem Qualitätsanspruch verschrieben.

Gegründet wurde Neil Ellis Wines 1986 von den zwei passionierten Weinexperten Neil Ellis und Hans Peter Schroder, die nach äußerst erfolgreichen Soloprojekten den Weg des Joint Ventures einschlugen.

Neil Ellis selbst hat sich am Kap einen Namen als Spitzenweinmaker gemacht, als er unter anderem für KWV, Groot Constantia Estate und Zevenwacht tätig war. Ihm obliegt auch im gleichnamigen Weingut die Verantwortung der Weinbereitung. Und die kann sich wahrlich genießen lassen.

Im Glas ein heller, lebendiger Platin-Farbton mit grüner Tönung. Komplexes Bouquet von Zitronengras, Limetten, Hafermehl, ausdrucksstarker Mineralität.Am Gaumen ist der südafrikanische Wein von mittlerem Körper, aber mit klarer Säure, Aromen von Kalk, Marzipan, cremige ausgedehnte Eichen-, Apfel- und Birnbaum-Merkmale. Durch eine reine, lineare mineralische Note ergibt sich ein sauberer und langer Abgang.Von Hand gepflückt, als gesamte Partie gepresst und sofort in 300 Liter Fässer aus französischer Eiche gefüllt. Dabei wurden 60% neue Fässer und 40% Fässer, die schon bereits einmal befüllt waren, verwendet. Die Gärung fand in Eiche statt, teils als natürliche und teils als malolaktische Gärung. Die Reifung erfolgte für 12 Monate in Eichenfässern mit gelegentlichem Rühren vor dem Abfüllen in Flaschen.Dieser Weißwein aus der Region Stellenbosch passt perfekt zu gegrilltem Fisch, weißem und rotem Fleisch.
