Neil Ellis Wines

Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc
The Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc consists of grapes that come from two different vineyards. One of the vineyards is already 19 years old and located 450 metres above sea level. The grapes from these vines give the wine its complexity. The vines that grow in the second vineyard are only 4 years old, giving the wine its freshness. In order to protect the grapes from heat stress, the harvest was carried out early in the morning. After repeated selection in the cellar, the grapes were pressed at a temperature of approximately 57.2 °F. The must remained in contact with the skin for about 6 hours. Subsequently, the wine was fermented at a temperature of 53.6 to 57.2 °F for a period of 10 days. On the nose, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc offers various aromas such as notes of green apple, Asian fruit, pears, white peach and lemon grass. It is soft and creamy on the palate, showing an intense minerality and a surprisingly long finish. Thanks to its vivid acidity, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc goes beautifully with goat’s cheese and seafood salads.

Rustenberg Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc
This wonderfully fresh Sauvignon Blanc has a nose hinting of tropical fruit, melon and gooseberries with subtle notes of pineapple and passion fruit. The South African white wine is comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. It is stimulating on the palate, with a great balance, a crisp acidity and a long, spicy finish. The grapes come from vineyards located in Stellenbosch, situated almost 600 metres above sea level. To bring its fruitiness into focus, the Rustenberg Sauvignon Blanc was deliberately not aged in wooden casks. This rather low-yield but absolutely healthy vintage produced wonderfully ripe grapes with intense aromas, offering a lovely, natural acidity. You’ll enjoy discovering this great taste experience.

New barrels were used for 25% of this and the rest was processed in second and third-fill barrels. Maturation took place for 9 months in French oak barrels. The color of the Neil Ellis Whitehall Chardonnay is straw-like with light greenish reflections. The nose reveals typical Chardonnay aromas of nectarines, lemon and various floral notes. The palate is characterized by a wonderful harmony and structure.
