The Lomond Syrah comes from the cool, coastal vineyards of Cape Agulhas, one of South Africa's southernmost wine regions. Due to the fresh sea breezes, the grapes ripen slowly and develop an extraordinary aroma with a perfect balance between fruit, spice and elegance.
In the glass, this Syrah is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by intense aromas of dark berries such as blackberry and blackcurrant, accompanied by floral notes such as violet and a hint of white pepper, cloves and Mediterranean herbs. An impressive structure unfolds on the palate with velvety tannins, fine spice and well-integrated acidity. The long finish is characterized by subtle wood notes and mineral accents.
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning to preserve their freshness. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, some of which are new. This gives the wine additional depth, complexity and an elegant tannin structure.
The Lomond Syrah is a perfect accompaniment to grilled lamb, beef steak, game dishes or hearty stews. Matured hard cheese or spicy tapas with chorizo and olives also harmonize wonderfully with this expressive red wine.
For the best taste experience, this Syrah should be enjoyed at 16-18 °C. A short decanting time of around 30-60 minutes helps to allow its aromas to fully develop.
