The red wine is the result of a close collaboration: together with the renowned Windmeul Kelder winery, we have created a wine that is a little feast for the senses. And the price-performance ratio is also exceptional.

The varietal Shiraz from the Coastal region, famous for its viticulture, has an intensely fruity aroma of blackberries, plums and blackcurrants. This fruity emphasis is harmoniously underpinned by a delicate spiciness.

The Sandfluisteraar Shiraz is dry and very round on the palate. The fruity aromas and the restrained spiciness from the short maturation in oak are harmoniously interwoven. The soft mouthfeel and the skillfully integrated tannins round off the enjoyment perfectly. The makers of Windmeul once again demonstrate their great winemaking skills here.

Windmeul Kelder

Das Weingut Windmeul Kelder liegt malerisch an den Hängen des Paarl-Berges in Südafrika. Das Gebiet ist etwa eine Stunde Fahrtzeit nördlich von Kapstadt entfernt und gehört zu den bekanntesten Weinanbaugebieten des Landes. Windmeul Kelder ist nach einer Windmühle benannt, die früher eine der schönsten und produktivsten der Region war. Die Mühle war auch deshalb weit berühmt, weil sie die einzige in der Gegend mit Segel war.

Nach der Zerstörung der Mühle gründeten 1944 ein paar Winzer auf dem Gelände eine Genossenschaft. Heute, mehr als 80 Jahre später, zählt Windmeul Kelder zu den größten und besten Weingütern in Südafrika. Mehr als 14.500 Tonnen Trauben pro Saison werden von einer Fläche von 1.700 Hektar verarbeitet. Geleitet wird die Weinproduktion von Winemaker Francois van Niekerk.

Das Repertoire bei Windmeul Kelder ist durch eine Vielzahl von Rebsorten geprägt. Am meisten wird Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Shiraz, Chardonnay und Chenin Blanc angebaut. Der Pinotage Reserve schaffte es in den letzten Jahren zweimal unter die Top 10 bei Südafrikas ABSA Pinotage Awards. Auch der Sauvignon Blanc 2014 war sehr erfolgreich. Beim Michelangelo International Wine Award in Südafrika erhielt er zweimal Gold.

Im Jahr 2023 wurde die neue Linie Sandfluistraar auf den Markt gebracht.

On the palate, the wine is well-balanced, medium-bodied, velvety and fruity. This pure varietal Pinotage comes from vines between 14 and 18 years old. The red wine from the venerable Windmeul cooperative was aged for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. Spier Signature Shiraz

The Spier Signature Shiraz comes from carefully tended vineyards in the Stellenbosch region.A short fermentation at low temperatures gives the South African wine a strong character, with delicious fruit flavors. Two thirds of the wine is then matured for around six to eight months in a mixture of French and American oak, which rounds off the wine nicely and gives it extra complexity. Wood and fruit remain perfectly balanced. In the glass, the Spier Signature Shiraz has a bright ruby red color. The nose is dominated by wonderfully intense aromas of sweet fruit, marmalade, rosemary and thyme. There is also a slightly peppery note. On the nose, the red wine is elegant, slightly spicy with light tannins. It is supported by a delicious vanilla aroma, berries, plums and pepper.This dry red wine is a great combination with grilled beef, lamb and game, and is also delicious with duck and quail.

It is therefore all the more important to preserve the original character of this grape. The Pr1mo Numero Uno Primitivo Salento does this very well. Deliberately with a little less residual sweetness and very structured on the palate, this dry wine from Italy is full-bodied but at the same time has a smoothness that is second to none. In a long process with the cellar master and owner Gaetano Marangelli from Cantine Menhir, we have brought the typical Apulian native form of a Primitivo into the bottle.The color is an intense dark red and shows all the power of the sun that was able to flow into the grapes of the Pr1mo.
