The Governor’s Reserve White comes from Groot Constantia, one of South Africa’s oldest wineries. Located in the famous Constantia wine region of the Western Cape, this historic winery has been synonymous with high-quality wines for centuries and combines its historical roots with modern winemaking techniques and sustainable viticulture.

This blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc benefits from the cool influence of the Atlantic Ocean as well as the granite-rich soils of the high-altitude vineyards. These unique conditions give the wine its characteristic freshness, elegance, and aromatic depth.

The grapes are hand-harvested and vinified separately. The wine is then aged for ten months on its fine lees in French oak barrels of varying sizes before undergoing a further twelve months of bottle aging after bottling. This meticulous vinification process adds complexity and a remarkable structure.

In the glass, the Groot Constantia Gouverneurs Reserve White presents a multi-layered bouquet of ripe tropical fruits. Aromas of lychee and passion fruit are accompanied by subtle notes of orange zest, lemon, and lime. Aging in French oak also lends the wine elegant hints of honey and toasted almonds. On the palate, the cuvée is fresh and harmonious, with lively citrus fruit, subtle nuances of elderflower, and impressive intensity. Its balanced acidity and elegant structure give it excellent aging potential.

A versatile food pairing, the Gouverneurs Reserve White pairs excellently with grilled fish, seafood, poultry in creamy sauces, veal, or delicate vegetable dishes. It is also an excellent choice with goat cheese and mildly aged hard cheeses. It is particularly well-balanced when served at a temperature of 8 to 10 °C.

The Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve is an expressive and profound Cape Fortified Wine that continues the legacy of the Nel family. It is made from traditional Portuguese grape varieties that thrive on old vines in Calitzdorp. Only the best grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in open granite vats known as lagares. The color, structure and aromas are optimally extracted through intensive manual pigeage before the wine is fortified with fine wine distillate. It then matures for two years in old French oak barrels, where it develops its impressive depth and complexity.In the glass, the Cape Vintage Reserve is almost inky black with a violet shimmer. Intense notes of black berries, cranberries, cherries and violets unfold on the nose, accompanied by spices, fynbos and subtle hints of licorice and dark chocolate.
