The Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve is an expressive and profound Cape Fortified Wine that continues the legacy of the Nel family. It is made from traditional Portuguese grape varieties that thrive on old vines in Calitzdorp. Only the best grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in open granite vats known as lagares. The color, structure and aromas are optimally extracted through intensive manual pigeage before the wine is fortified with fine wine distillate. It then matures for two years in old French oak barrels, where it develops its impressive depth and complexity.

In the glass, the Cape Vintage Reserve is almost inky black with a violet shimmer. Intense notes of black berries, cranberries, cherries and violets unfold on the nose, accompanied by spices, fynbos and subtle hints of licorice and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is concentrated and powerful, with a firm structure and a dry, long finish - a wine that will gain elegance over many years.

Serve the Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve slightly decanted at 14-16 °C with braised meat, game, strong hard cheese, tapas or chocolate with a high cocoa content. In its youth, it is intense and spicy, but with a little maturity it develops a fascinating depth and harmony.

Seine Weine sind von der klassischen Tradition inspiriert – mit minimalem Eingriff hergestellt, um Ausgewogenheit, Eleganz und vor allem eine interessante Herkunftsgeschichte widerzuspiegeln.Für uns sind die Weine von Dickens „die“ Entdeckung des Jahres 2023 aus Südafrika.Der Dickens Tale of Three Wines besteht zu 98% aus Shiraz und zu jeweils 1% aus Mouverdre und Viognier. Die Trauben stammen zu 99% aus der südafrikanischen Region Franschhoek. Diese mehrdimensionale und komplexe rote Mischung zeigt vielschichtige Aromen von roten Beerenfrüchten, Veilchen und Gewürzen. Am Gaumen verbinden sich die Aromen von Beeren und Veilchen mit weichen, kalkhaltigen Tanninen zu einem konzentrierten und vollmundigen Wein.
