Boplaas Hanepoot

The Boplaas Cape Hanepoot is made from low-yielding Hanepoot vines that were planted around thirty years ago by Oupa Danie Nel, the father of the current winemaker. Harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, the grapes are fermented naturally for four days in traditional lagars, with regular, gentle pigeage every four hours. After enrichment with fine wine distillate, the young Hanepoot matures for six months in stainless steel tanks before being carefully blended and bottled.

In the glass, it shines lemon yellow with a lime green rim. Intense aromas of ripe muscatel grapes, pineapple, lemon peel and lychee unfold on the nose, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, the Boplaas Cape Hanepoot is deliciously sweet, fresh and harmonious with notes of honey, raisins, melon, fig leaf and citrus marmalade, supported by lively acidity and a hint of minerality in the finish.

Serve this versatile liqueur wine slightly chilled at 10-12 °C as an aperitif or digestif, with spicy dishes from Indian or Thai cuisine, roast duck or pork, but also with fruity desserts, malva pudding or mild soft cheeses. Boplaas Cape Hanepoot is also a special treat on ice or as a base for aromatic cocktails.

The Glenwood Grand Duc Noblesse from the Glenwood vineyard is an exceptional sweet wine made from 29-year-old vines that thrive on the well-drained soils of Clovelly and Avalon. Without artificial irrigation, the grapes slowly develop their full aroma.Before pressing, they undergo an additional selection process to guarantee the highest quality. Only the best, noble rotten berries are used.
