Château de Cérons Graves Rouge 2020 is a classic Bordeaux red wine from the renowned Graves growing region in the south of Bordeaux. The vineyard is located in the immediate vicinity of the Garonne and benefits from gravelly and chalky soils, which give the wine its elegant structure and characteristic minerality. 2020 was an outstanding vintage in the Bordelais. The de Cérons 2020 was vinified from the traditional Bordeaux grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in a ratio of 80:20 and matured for 40% for 12 months in French oak, partly new, and 60% in tank.

The wine is a deep ruby red in the glass. On the nose, it develops intense aromas of ripe berries such as blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry and cherry, accompanied by subtle floral notes, tobacco, cedar wood and a hint of dark chocolate. It is full-bodied and complex on the palate: juicy, medium to full-bodied, with clear fruit, silky tannins and a fresh, mineral finish. A fine, peppery spiciness and hints of mocha underline its complex character.

The Château La Commanderie is a cuvée made of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. The grapes for this classical Saint-Estèphe, in the Cru Bourgeois range, come from vines that are more than 30 years old. The wine matured for 12 months in French oak casks.The vines for the 2017 La Commanderie grew in the highest vineyards with gravel soils located in the village of Saint-Estèphe. The wine is a typical example of this outstanding vintage in the Bordeaux region. It is already very enjoyable but will further improve over the next 8-10 years. The Château La Commanderie is beguiling on the nose, offering lovely, spicy aromas and fragrances of red and dark berries, cherries, pepper and polish. On the palate, it has an impressive abundance of fruit and silky, very well integrated tannins and a lovely long finish, showing subtle hints of mint and herbs.This charming Saint-Estèphe goes beautifully with beef, steaks, lamb, game and various cheeses. We recommend decanting the wine 1-2 hours before drinking it.

Der 2018er Château Malescasse ist ein Spiegelbild dieses Ausnahme-Jahrgangs. Malescasse, seit 2012 im Besitz von Phillipe Austruy, ist seit dieser Zeit auf einem bewunderswerten Höhenflug. Die Hingabe und Investitionen, die Malescasse zu Gute kamen, wurden nun durch die Einstufung als Cru Bourgeois Exceptionel im Jahre 2020 belohnt.Kommt dann noch ein besonderes Jahr, wie es 2018 war, hinzu, kann nur ein großartiger Wein dabei herauskommen!Der Rebsaft, bestehend aus 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon und 5% Petit Verdot. Der Rotwein beeindruckt mit tiefdunklen und violetten Reflexen. In der Nase viel schwarze Kirsche, Brombeere, Karamel und etwas Minze. Insgesamt viel Druck, viel Frucht und eine Cremigkeit und Süße, die dennoch nicht die Komplexität vermissen lassen. Also kein "Fruchtkompott", sondern eine üppige Aromatik, gegenbalanciert von feinen Tanninen und einem sehr langen Abgang.Dieser Charmeur hat noch ein langes Leben vor sich und profitiert noch davon, etwas zu warten, bis er sich vollends in der Flasche entwickelt hat. Dieses dürfte etwa 2025 der Fall sein. Wer aber gar nicht warten kann, sollte den 2018er Château Malescasse mindestens 1- 1 1/2 Stunden vorher dekantieren.Aufgrund seiner Intensität ein Wein, der besonders solo beeindruckt. Aber auch zu Wild, Gulasch oder Pasta ein toller Partner.

Dieser 2016er Cru bourgeois aus der renommierten Appellation Haut-Médoc ist der beste Beweis dafür. Die klassische Assemblage aus 53% Merlot, 38% Cabernet-Sauvignon und 9% Petit Verdot bringt einen verführerischen, vollmundigen und hervorragend ausbalancierten Wein hervor. Dieser Jahrgang profitiert insbesondere davon, dass der Cabernet-Sauvignon in Ruhe ausreifen konnte und mit seiner Eleganz ein schönes Gegenstück zur üppigen Frucht des Merlots darstellt. Der Wein begrüßt den Kenner mit einem tiefen Rubingranat. In der Nase dann viele dunkle Beeren, rote Kirschen und Grenadine. Am Gaumen komplex, mit süßer Frucht und Aromen von Pflaumen und gut integriertem Holz. Viel Würze, schöne, präsente Tanninstruktur und ein langer Abgang.Der Decanter beschreibt ihn als einen der besten Malescasse überhaupt und vergibt 91 Punkte. Bewertung Falstaff: 91-93 Punkte. Der Malescasse 2016 wird mindestens für 20 Jahre lagerfähig sein; die Trinkreife wird in 2-3 Jahren einsetzen. Wer ihn heute schon probieren möchte, sollte ihn mindestens zwei Stunden vorher dekantieren.Dieser klassische Haut-Médoc Wein, ist ein Genuss zu allem Gegrilltem, aber auch zu Hartkäse, Wild oder Pasta-Gerichten. Natürlich auch als Solo-Wein eine Gaumenfreude für lange Kaminabende, gern mit einem Stück dunkler Schokolade.

Der Château Beaumont 2020 ist ein Cru Bourgeois aus dem Haut-Médoc, eine der berühmten Appellationen vom linken Ufer der Gironde in Bordeaux.Er verkörpert die klassischen Werte eines sehr hochwertigen Weins aus dem Bordelais, mit schöner, klarer Struktur, guten Tanninen, Frucht und einem hohen Alterungspotential. Das Jahr 2020 trug hierzu einiges bei, handelt es sich doch um einen der drei Ausnahmejahrgänge in der Serie von 2018-2020.Die Assemblage besteht aus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot und Petit Verdot.Der Château Beaumont 2020 ist von tief violett-roter Farbe mit schönen Purpurreflexen. Das Bouquet überzeugt durch schöne Brombeernoten, Tabak, Unterholz, Schokolade und dunkler Frucht. Bereits 1793 kaufte der Bordelaiser Weinhändler Jean Delbos das Rebland auf außerordentlich gutem Terroir, gelegen zwischen so renommierten Châteaux wie Gruaud-Larose und Beychevelle. Der trockene Rotwein wird vom Cabernet Sauvignon dominiert, mit etwa 1/3 Anteil Merlot und etwas Petit Verdot.Ein ganz klassischer und typischer Haut-Médoc Bordeaux, der durchaus etwas Lagerung verträgt und bis zum Jahre 2030 immer noch weiter zulegen wird. Paz Espejo, die im Jahre 2009 als Managerin das Gut übernommen hat, hat mit dem 2016er Jahrgang eine kleine Wein-Ikone geschaffen, die dem traditionellen Bild Bordeauxs huldigt. Gute Frucht, mittlerer Körper, durchaus präsente Tannine, viel rote Beeren, Kirsche, Cassis und eine wahre Fundgrube von Waldnoten bestimmen den Charakter des Château Lanessan Haut-Médoc, der dem Jahrgang entsprechend eine Hohe Qualität bietet. Der Abgang ist beeindruckend lang. Dieser noch sehr junge Wein aus Frankreich profitiert von einer Dekantierung von 1-2 Stunden und passt hervorragend zu Lamm, Steak, Hack- oder Schmorbraten.

Der Fleur de Pédesclaux, übersetzt die Blume von Pédesclaux , ist der Zweitwein vom Cru Classé Pedesclaux aus der weltberühmten Appellation Pauillac am linken Ufer der Gironde, im Médoc. Er ähnelt dem Grand Vin sehr, mit seiner wunderbaren Frucht und der warmen und sehr seidigen Textur. Hier ist allerdings der Merlot Anteil höher (67% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon und 6% Petit Verdot), was ihn etwas geschmeidiger und zugänglicher macht. Das Jahr 2019 brachte außerordentlich gute Ergebnisse in Bordeaux hervor, so dass sich der Fleur de Pédesclaux mehr auf Augenhöhe mit seinem großen Bruder befindet als in nicht so guten Jahrgängen.Wir lieben sein reiches und duftendes Merlot-Bukett und seine roten und schwarzen Früchte, die eleganten und geschliffenen Tannine und den langen Nachhall. Kein Wunder, dass dieser Wein viel mehr ist als es der profane Begriff "Zweitwein" vermuten lässt. Star-Önologe Eric Boissenot hat hier beratend seine Finger im Spiel, Managing Dircetor Emmanuel Cruse bringt das Wein-Know-How von Château d´Issan mit und Jackie Lorenzetti, Eigentümer von Château Pédesclaux, hat keine Mühen und vor allem Millionen gescheut, Pédesclaux eine unglaubliche Dynamik in der Entwicklung zu spendieren.Der Fleur wird handgelesen, im Keller wird der Most und der Wein alleine durch Gravitation bewegt. Die Reifung erfolgt für 12 Monate in 30% neuen Fässern. Ein frischer, sehr hochwertig und rein vinifizierter Pauillac, der schon jung viel Freude bereitet und gegenwärtig trinkreif ist, allerdings durchaus auch das Potential zur Lagerung von einigen Jahren bietet.

Chante Alouette 2018 is a typical Bordeaux from the right bank of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vineyards are located between such famous neighbors as Château Pavie and La Gaffeliére; the sand and clay soils, in addition to careful vinification, are responsible for producing particularly elegant and rich wines with a lot of charm.Château Chante Aloutte was taken over in 1995 by the Guy d'Arfeuille family, who combine the best of tradition and modernity while respecting and appreciating nature. The blend consists of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. It is matured in barriques with 30% new wood for one year.The 2018 Chante Alouette has a deep garnet-purple color. Blueberries, sweet cherries, licorice, baked plums, tobacco and violets on the nose. The palate is wonderfully elegant, opening up a world of dark fruits with chocolate. Lots of velvet and well-integrated tannins with an intense finish complete a very rounded picture of the exceptional 2018 vintage.A wonderful solo wine, drinkable now until around 2038, which also cuts an excellent figure with game, braised meat, grilled lamb or hard cheese.

The Dornier Pinotage comes from the famous Swartland, a wine region about 50 kilometers north of Dornier, which is known for its unique terroirs and strong wines. The vines grow on natural bush vineyards in a soil mix of sand and coffee stone. These dry conditions without irrigation result in small grapes with intensely concentrated aromas and make for particularly characterful wines.This Pinotage is a deep garnet red in the glass. Intense, persistent aromas of cherries and red berries unfold on the nose, finely complemented by notes of Turkish honey and rose water. On the palate, the red wine impresses with powerful concentration and an exciting combination of aromas of plum, bitter cherry, strawberry jam and black pepper. The taste experience is rounded off by subtle, spicy wood notes from the ageing in French oak.The grapes are harvested by hand for vinification. Some of the grapes are not destemmed in order to obtain additional structure. Fermentation takes place in open stainless steel tanks with pumping over four times a day to extract the fruit and tannins optimally. The Pinotage is pressed before complete drying and fermentation is completed in barrel. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in the barrel. The wine then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which are new wood, which further increases the complexity and depth of the wine.Dornier Pinotage is an excellent accompaniment to roasts and game dishes. Spicy dishes such as curries and the South African national dish bobotie also harmonize perfectly with this wine.

Der Neethlingshof Caracal ist ein Wein aus der Short Story Collection. Die Geschichte, die sich um diesen Wein rangt, zeigt den Einsatz des Weingutes für die Natur. Der Caracal ist ein afrikanischer Luchs (Rooikats). Die Wildkatzenart konnte durch gezielte Erhaltung und Sanierung der Lebensräume wieder auf der Farm angesiedelt werden. Jetzt wird dies durch das Label und den Namen des Weines gewürdigt. Die Farbe des Neethlingshof Caracal ist intensiv dunkelrot. In der Nase sind wunderschöne Pflaumen-, Johannisbeer- und Kirscharomen wahrnehmbar. Hinzu kommen Noten von Eichen- und Zedernholz sowie Vanilletöne. Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Wein körperreich, muskulös und weich. Die festen, aber geschmeidigen Tanninen tragen zur kräftigen Struktur bei. Der Caracal ist im Bordeaux-Stil ausgebaut und reifte für 16 Monate auf einer Kombination aus französischen und amerikanischen Holzfässern. Der trockene Rotwein passt hervorragend zu Steak, Ochsenschwanz, Beef Stroganoff, Ratatouille und gereiftem Käse.Der südafrikanische Wein ist vegan.
