The history of the Bernhard Ott winery began with the Ried Rosenberg 1 ÖTW. The Veltliner vines rooted here are among the oldest on the estate, and their potential and strength were evident from the very beginning. Rosenberg was the estate's first official single-vineyard bottling and to this day stands for a powerful, long-lived Grüner Veltliner that combines substance, structure and elegance in perfect balance.
The vines, over 50 years old, grow on deep loess with limestone, on a north/south-facing slope at 270 to 330 meters above sea level. This terroir gives the white wine its characteristic freshness, precise minerality and fine, natural elegance.
Hand-picking and gentle processing in the basket press, followed by spontaneous fermentation, ensure a lively spectrum of aromas. Two years of ageing in large wooden barrels rounds off the texture, adding depth and length without overpowering the fruit or mineral clarity.
In the glass, the Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Ried Rosenberg Erste Lage is multi-faceted and powerful with aromas of ripe apples, apricots, a hint of citrus and fine spicy notes. On the palate, it is juicy, concentrated and at the same time elegant, supported by a fine acidity and mineral tension. A long finish underlines the power and ageing potential of this historic vineyard.
This Grüner Veltliner is an excellent accompaniment to braised veal, roasted poultry, aromatic fish dishes or classic Austrian cuisine. The wine develops optimally at a drinking temperature of 10-12 °C.
A powerful, long-lasting Grüner Veltliner from the Rosenberg vineyard - mineral, elegant and full of character, embodying the essence of the Kamptal.
