Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Der Ott

DER OTT is the secret favorite of the Bernhard Ott winery and a Grüner Veltliner with character, depth and elegance.

Since the 2019 vintage, it has belonged to the quality category of single-vineyard wines and combines the best from the young vineyards of the Erste Lage Spiegel, Stein, Rosenberg and Kirchthal sites. The grapes come from exposed south-facing slopes of the Kamptal and Wagram, on loess and primary rock soils, with vines between 10 and 35 years old.

Harvested by hand, spontaneously fermented and gently processed with the basket press, the Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner DER OTT is matured on the lees in Stockinger wooden barrels until July. The result impresses with its deep fruit aromas, Burgundian mouthfeel, elegant structure and complex variety of flavors. Youthful elegance meets terroir-influenced complexity - full of character, expressive and consistently focused on quality.

Bright yellow with greenish reflections in the glass heralds the fresh aromas: Apple and pear merge with fine peppery spice. On the palate, the Grüner Veltliner DER OTT has a lively structure, harmonious minerality and a precise, animating finish.

At a drinking temperature of 8-10 °C, DER OTT unfolds its lively freshness and structure particularly well with refined vegetable dishes, gently spiced poultry variations or creamy risottos. Light pasta with herbs, mild goat's cheese or delicate asparagus dishes also harmonize perfectly.

Weingut Bernhard Ott

Wer Grünen Veltliner wirklich verstehen will, kommt an Bernhard Ott nicht vorbei.
