Wenn man die Geschichte dahinter kennt, sehr gut können wir da nur sagen. Giulio Bertrand, geborener Italiener, kaufte 1992 das Weingut Morgenster. Nach erster Restaurierung stand er hinter dem alten Herrenhaus und sah auf einen Hügel. Der Hügel erinnerte ihn an seine Heimat und so er beschloss eine heimatliche Rebsorte dort anzubauen und das war eben die Traube Nebbiolo.

Die Trauben des Nabucco Nebbiolo stammen aus einem einzigen 1,6 ha großen Weinberg. Dieser raffinierte, tief nuancierte Wein drückt bemerkenswerte Eleganz und große Kraft dieser berühmten norditalienischen Rebsorte aus. Dieser Wein hat eine helle Farbe und einen hohen Säuregehalt. Er ist vollmundig und passt hervorragend als Essensbegleiter. Seine erdige Struktur erinnert an einen Pinot Noir, allerdings mit mehr Geschmack und Kraft. Im Abgang wunderbar weich und stoffig. Ein südafrikanischer Nebbiolo also: der Morgenster Nabucco Nebbiolo. Da hilft nur probieren!

The bouquet of the Rustenberg John X Merriman pampers your senses with diverse notes of dark plums, black currants, sour cherries and tobacco. On the palate, this blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, is medium-bodied, with a pleasant structure and noticeable tannins that become increasingly subtle over the years. This is already a powerful, high-quality wine that will benefit considerably from additional ageing. The Rustenberg John X Merriman matured for 20 months in French oak casks, of which 35% were new barriques. Second- and third-fill barrels were used as well.This red wine is dedicated to John Xavier Merriman, a former owner of the Rustenberg estate. He acquired the winery in 1892, breathing new life into it.

Der Stellenrust Cornerstone Pinotage stammt aus der sogenannten Super Premium Range des Weingutes und stellt somit die zweithöchste Stufe der Qualitätsebenen dar. Ein Wein dem viel Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird.Südafrika ist bekannt für seinen großen Anteil an Pinotage Weinen, da ist es eine Herausforderung einen besonders guten Pinotage zu vinifizieren. Dr. Tertius Boshoff, Winemaker und Besitzer von Stellenrust, legt deshalb extremen Wert auf die Auswahl der Trauben und deren Verarbeitung. Nach der händischen Ernte werden die Trauben ca. 36 Stunden gepresst und dann in Edelstahltanks vergoren. Die Reifung findet in französischen Eichenfässern über einen Zeitraum von ungefähr 20 Monaten statt.In der Nase zeigt der Stellenrust Cornerstone Pinotage ein Aroma von Blau,- und Himbeeren, dazu kommen Noten von reifem Pfirsich und schwarzer Kirsche. Am Gaumen ist der Wein saftig und mit vollem Körper, delikat und warm mit subtilen Eichentönen. Die stabile Säure macht den Abgang frisch und leicht süß-sauer.Dieser Rotwein eignet sich hervorragend als Essensbegleiter zu scharfer Küche, wie thailändischen Speisen mit viel Curry oder Chili con Carne.
