This is a fabulous showing in a very challenging yearThe Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a great depth, yet is remarkably accessible. 93% of the grapes for this blend come from the legendary vineyard To Kalon. The blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon as well as small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec has a deep dark color. On the nose the wine is wonderfully diverse. It offers intense aromas of dark fruit, sage, bay leaf and fine nuances of black pepper.On the palate, savory and with a clear, harmonious structure. The freshness, density, complexity and the persistent finish make the wine an extraordinary creation.The new wine was drained and gently pressed into 92% new French-oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, assuring seamless integration of fruit and oak. The final blend was assembled through repeated tasting trials over the 20 months of barrel aging.

Der Rust en Vrede Estate ist ein Cuvee aus den Rebsorten Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah und Merlot. Der dominierende Cabernet gibt dem Wein herrliche Noten von schwarzer Johannisbeere und weiteren dunklen Früchten wie Heidelbeere. Der Syrah sorgt für eine schöne Würze mit erdigen Aromen. Der Merlot steuert sanfte florale Aromen von Veilchen und Jasmin bei. Eine Kombination, die am Gaumen wirklich Spaß macht. Die Farbe ist purpurrot und in der Nase finden sich Noten von frischem Leder, Tabak, Maulbeeren und Waldboden wieder. Der langanhaltende Abgang wird durch samtig weiche Tannine bestimmt.Der Rust en Vrede Estate reifte 18 Monate in 100% französischen Fässern, die mittelstark getoastet waren. The bouquet of the Rustenberg John X Merriman pampers your senses with diverse notes of dark plums, black currants, sour cherries and tobacco. On the palate, this blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, is medium-bodied, with a pleasant structure and noticeable tannins that become increasingly subtle over the years. This is already a powerful, high-quality wine that will benefit considerably from additional ageing. The Rustenberg John X Merriman matured for 20 months in French oak casks, of which 35% were new barriques. Second- and third-fill barrels were used as well.This red wine is dedicated to John Xavier Merriman, a former owner of the Rustenberg estate. He acquired the winery in 1892, breathing new life into it.

This Barrel Selection wine from the Bodegas Salentein estate, located in the Uco Valley at the foot of the Andes in Argentina, is a pure varietal Merlot. Winemaker José Galante, a former professor of oenology at the University of Maza, is one of Argentina’s most renowned and successful oenologists. With this wine, he created a wonderfully fruity, full-bodied Merlot distinguished by its intensity as well as its subtle nuances. This is due particularly to the hot temperatures prevailing in the Uco Valley during the day, accompanied by cool nights, ensuring optimal ripening of the grapes. The Barrel Selection Merlot is a deep red with blue glints in the glass. On the nose, it offers lots of fruit and is redolent of ripe quinces, wild berries and spices, along with nuances of tobacco and vanilla that result from the ageing in French oak casks. On the palate, the wine is extremely full-bodied and soft, showing a superb structure with ripe, very fine tannins and a long, charming finish. This Barrel Selection Merlot not only shows an immense, fruity fullness but is also rich in substance and concentration, giving it much more character than its competitors. This wine is always the right choice for those who prefer typical and thus not merely fruity Merlot wines. In this respect, the Salentein Barrel Selection Merlot is exactly what Bodegas Salentein wants to achieve: to produce a wine that wonderfully reflects the marvellous terroir of its vineyards located in Mendoza. This Merlot is lovely to enjoy on its own. It also goes beautifully with ripe hard cheeses, dishes with beef and other red meat, and anything grilled. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16 °C (60.8 °F) and decanting the wine half an hour before drinking it.

The Numina Gran Corte from Argentina’s prestigious Salentein estate is part of the premium range of the winery, and thus simultaneously one of the best Argentine wines. At Salentein, the decades of expertise of oenologist Jose Galante, a perfect terroir, a bold approach to innovation, and substantial investment in its cellars and technology complement each other to create an extremely fruitful environment from which wines like the Numina emerge.Only the best Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes are united to compose this unique blend. The Malbec variety, which is predominant in this wine, is the most widely established vine in Argentina. The grapes come from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, located at the foot of the Andes. The vines grow in vineyards at an altitude of up to 1,700 metres and benefit from lots of sun during the day and cooler temperatures at night. They are watered by the pure meltwater from the Andes.The Salentein Numina Gran Corte is a light, very intense crimson in colour. It is elegant and complex on the nose, offering notes of tobacco, cassis, bilberries, spices, vanilla and caramel. On the palate, this wine from South America shows all its typical characteristics, with lots of aromas of dark berries and soft, sweet and fine tannins. The finish is extremely long.This wine is the perfect blend of stunning fruit, which does not remain predominant but is compensated by sufficient complexity and depth.Decanted and enjoyed at a temperature of 16°C (60.8°F), the Salentein Numina Gran Corte is a very special delight.
