The La Bri Barrel Select Chardonnay from Franschhoek in South Africa comes from a strict barrel selection and impresses with its multi-layered aromas and impressive finesse. Already awarded the highest rating of 5 stars in Platter's Wine Guide several times, this wine shows once again that the interplay of terroir, low yields and precise cellar work can produce great wines.The grapes were harvested by hand. After a night in cold storage, the whole grapes were gently pressed. After pre-clarification, the must was transferred to 600-liter French oak barrels (half of which were new), where it fermented and matured for 11 months. This careful vinification gives the wine its fine woody spice, structure and depth without losing its freshness.In the glass, La Bri Barrel Select Chardonnay reveals an elegant interplay of fresh citrus fruit, juicy stone fruit notes and fine minerality. Creamy but focused on the palate, with animating acidity and a long, taut finish. The style remains precise, lively and clearly structured - a prime example of modern South African Chardonnay.The stylized Clivia miniata, also known as a buttercup, adorns the label - it symbolizes the fresh, radiant character of this wine.A perfect accompaniment to scallops, roasted poultry, lemon risotto or fresh goat's cheese.

La Bri Chardonnay 2024

La Bri Chardonnay is an expressive, carefully vinified white wine from Franschhoek that combines classic Chardonnay characteristics with South African radiance. With aromas of white pear, lime and a creamy, finely balanced palate, this wine offers drinking pleasure at a high level - carried by a crisp acidity and a playful, sweet and sour finish.The grapes were harvested by hand in the first week of February and cooled overnight to preserve freshness and fruit. After whole cluster pressing, the must was left to rest before the clear juice was transferred to a selection of high quality French oak barrels of 300 and 600 liters (39% of which were new).The wine fermented partly spontaneously, partly with selected yeasts directly in the wood. It then matured for a total of 12 months on the fine lees, giving it its creamy structure and fine complexity.In the glass, La Bri Chardonnay is animatingly fresh, with bright fruit notes, a hint of flowers and delicate wood. The balance between fruit, acidity and texture makes it a versatile accompaniment to food and an exciting soloist in equal measure.The bright yellow Clivia miniata on the label symbolizes the floral, lively character of the wine - an expression of freshness, joie de vivre and elegance.Perfect with grilled poultry, creamy pasta with mushrooms, goat's cheese or summer asparagus. It also unfolds its full charm with Asian dishes with coconut milk or ginger.

Der La Bri Double Door Chardonnay Viognier ist ein Weißwein mit einem ganz eigenen Stil, entstanden aus der Kombination von Trauben vom Weingut und sorgfältig ausgewählten Früchten benachbarter Farmen. Diese kreative Mischung verleiht den Weinen eine besondere Individualität und Charaktertiefe.In der Nase und am Gaumen dominieren intensive Aromen von reifen Pfirsichen und saftigen Zitrusfrüchten. Die fruchtige Süße wird von einer markanten, trockenen Säure perfekt ausbalanciert, sodass der Wein trotz seiner opulenten Fruchtfülle knochentrocken bleibt.Die Trauben des Chardonnay wurden in 300-Liter-Fässern aus französischer Eiche vergoren, was dem Wein eine dezente Holznote und eine samtige Textur verleiht. With the Crystal Spark, La Bri presents an expressive Cap Classique from the creative Double Door range. This sparkling wine is produced using the traditional method and matures for an exceptionally long time on the lees, which gives it its elegant perlage, aromatic depth and fine texture.The grapes come from older vineyards on the La Bri estate in Franschhoek and were carefully harvested by hand. After whole cluster pressing, the base wine was matured for several months in used French oak barrels before being bottled for a second fermentation. The subsequent ageing on the lees gives the Crystal Spark its complexity, creamy structure and a lively, fresh finish.The Crystel Spark is a versatile food companion - ideal as an aperitif or with oysters, sushi, fine antipasti or creamy goat's cheese. The Sauvage La Bri Cap Classique is an artisan Blanc de Blancs made from 100% Chardonnay, which shows the power and elegance of the South African sparkling wine tradition in its purest form. Only 1150 bottles of this special vintage were produced - each individually numbered by hand.The Chardonnay grapes come from La Bri's oldest vineyard (planted in 1991) and were carefully harvested by hand on February 12, 2018. After careful whole cluster pressing, the must fermented in four old French barriques. After 3 months of barrel maturation, the base wine was bottled and crown-corked with liqueur de tirage to start the second fermentation in the bottle.Particularly impressive: the wine matured for 71 months on the lees ("sur lie") - a clear sign of quality and patience. As a Brut Nature, it was disgorged without dosage and thus retains its natural freshness and structure.In the glass, Sauvage La Bri Cap Classique has a fine perlage and complex aromas of toasted bread, dried mushrooms, citrus zest and mineral notes. The palate is taut, straightforward and precise with a refreshing, long finish.The label is adorned with the delicate Serruria florida, also known as the "Blushing Bride" - a tribute to the origin of the grapes and the romance of the moment. The name "Sauvage La Bri" charmingly alludes to the French word for "wild" and the art of sabrage. Each bottle is a real collector's item.Ideal with oysters, ceviche, scallops or goat's cheese with citrus flavors. Benannt nach dem bekannten Stadtviertel "La Villette" in Paris, kommen die Trauben für den reinsortigen La Villette Chardonnay VdF von Weinbergen am Fuße der Pyrenäen im Südwesten Frankreichs. Nach einer Gärung von 10 bis 12 Tagen in französischen und amerikanischen Eichenfässern, liegt der Wein für weitere sechs Monate „sur lie“ (auf der Hefe). Um die natürliche Frische des Weins zu behalten, durchläuft die Hälfte des Weins eine malolaktische Gärung. Das fördert die Entwicklung der frischen, typischen Chardonnay Aromen.Dieser erfrischende und komplexe Chardonnay duftet nach Zitronenkuchen, Banane und Birne, gefolgt von warmen Gerüchen von geröstetem Brot. Sourced from the Eden Valley, this elegant wine is made from pristine, flavour ripe bunches, gently pressed and cool fermented.Most components remain un-oaked for freshness (70%) while some are finished in French oak (30%) for complexity as well as undergoing secondary malolactic fermentation to soften natural acidity. This wine exhibits fresh, full fruit flavours, fine structure and a dry finish.

Lanzerac Chardonnay 2023

The grapes for the Lanzerac Chardonnay come from the estate’s various vineyards, of which the oldest are more than 20 years old. The blending of the grapes from the different vineyards has a positive impact on the wines’ complexity. The yield is less than 5 tons per hectare (1 hectare = approx. 2.47 acres). In order to only pick healthy and fully ripe grapes, the harvest was carried out by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were again selected by hand in the cellar. After cutting, the grapes were cooled down to 59 °F and pressed.The wine was fermented in barrels, of which 70% were 300-litre oak casks and 30% were stainless steel tanks. After 9 months, the two batches were blended. The Lanzerac Chardonnay is full-bodied and distinctive, offering aromas of citrus, ginger, vanilla and clover on the nose. On the palate, it shows a noticeable balance between fruit, acidity and softness. The finish is creamy and long-lasting. Thanks to its wonderful complexity, the Lanzerac Chardonnay goes beautifully with smoked salmon, sea bass or paella with seafood.
