Barbadillo Mil Pesetas Manzanilla Sherry is a classic, lively manzanilla sherry from Jerez-la-Franca, the coastal part of the sherry region in Andalusia (Spain). It is produced by the traditional Bodega Barbadillo and stands for the unmistakable freshness, saltiness and finesse that characterize Manzanillas from near the sea.
The grapes come mainly from Palomino-Fino vines, which grow on the chalky and gravelly Albariza soils around Jerez. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine matures in the classic solera and criadera system, where it is permanently stored under a protective yeast called flor. Especially in Jerez-la-Franca, close to the Atlantic coast, the cooling sea factor ensures that the flor yeast remains stable for longer and the wine develops its fresh, elegant minerality.
Color: Pale straw yellow with silvery reflections.
Nose: Fresh, clear aromas of green apple, lemon, sea salt and almonds.
Palate: Dry, lively and precise, with a pronounced salty minerality, fine texture and pleasant acidity. Typical of Manzanilla is its almost maritime character, reminiscent of sea salt, chalk and breeze.
Served at 8-10 °C, Barbadillo Mil Pesetas Manzanilla reveals all its freshness. It is ideal as an aperitif and harmonizes perfectly with oysters, seafood, sushi, olives, gazpacho or light tapas. It is also an ideal accompaniment to light fish dishes and salads.
