This blend is redolent of black currants, gooseberries and plums, complemented by a lovely spice (peppery notes) and roast aromas. The composition, consisting mainly of Shiraz (from the Stellenbosch and Paarl regions) and smaller percentages of Mourvedre (from the city of Darling) and Viognier (from the Stellenbosch False Bay), is very fruity and velvety on the palate, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long finish, characterised by notes of cherries and a subliminal spice.

The Kleine Zalze Vineyard Shiraz-Mourvedre-Viognier matured for 14 months in used French oak casks. Enjoy this red wine particularly with spicy meat dishes. In his Wine Guide, John Platter had this to say about the Kleine Zalze Vineyard Shiraz-Mourvedre-Viognier: ‘Quite a personality’.
