The Kleine Zalze Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine that ranks among the most exquisite creations of South African viticulture. In John Platter’s Wine Guide, former vintages of this wine were awarded 4.5 or 5 out of 5 possible stars.

This pure varietal Cabernet unites notes of black cherries, dark plums and black currants in its multi-layered bouquet, which harmonise wonderfully with nuances of cedar, oak and cigar box. On the palate, the wine shows great density, fine tannins and great elegance, complemented by impressively well-integrated wood aromas and a fascinating balance. The finish is long-lasting, showing a lovely, sustained spice.

The wine matured for 20 months in casks, of which 40% were first-fill and 30% each were second- and third-fill barrels. Try this red wine from the Stellenbosch region with flash-fried steaks, game or various fine, ripe cheeses.

This blend is redolent of black currants, gooseberries and plums, complemented by a lovely spice (peppery notes) and roast aromas. The composition, consisting mainly of Shiraz (from the Stellenbosch and Paarl regions) and smaller percentages of Mourvedre (from the city of Darling) and Viognier (from the Stellenbosch False Bay), is very fruity and velvety on the palate, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long finish, characterised by notes of cherries and a subliminal spice.The Kleine Zalze Vineyard Shiraz-Mourvedre-Viognier matured for 14 months in used French oak casks.
