The Kleine Zalze Cellar Pinotage matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill barriques. This red wine from the Coastal region unites notes of wild berries, plums and black currants in its multi-faceted bouquet, complemented by nuances of leather and roast aromas due to the ageing in wooden casks. The pure varietal Pinotage from South Africa is powerful and simultaneously supple on the palate, with soft tannins and a good structure.

This very elegant Pinotage is an ideal accompaniment to grilled meat, lamb or winter stews. The Kleine Zalze Cellar Pinotage also goes beautifully with strong curry dishes.

By planting the pinotage grapes in rows in a north-easterly direction the grapes are not in the bright afternoon sun. This prevents them to develop a roasted and spicy aroma. And it helps even more that the sea is near, only 8 kilometer away. By low proceeds of 50 hectoliters per hectare the grapes get lots of intensity and the wine has enough strength and depth to let a part of it mature in wooden barrels. Fermentation at no more than 25 ° C ensures plenty of fruit. 40% of the wine matured in French oak barrels or American origin, making this a pleasant vanilla tasty Pinotage without sacrificing the fruit.
