Eikehof Cape Ruby Grandpa's 1942 Ford

The Eikehof Cape Ruby from the established Eikehof wine estate in Franschhoek is a full-bodied Cape Ruby with a strong character, made in the traditional "port style" from 80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. After fermentation, the wine was fortified to 18% alcohol, thus retaining some of its natural residual sugar and retaining its harmonious sweetness.

In the glass, it has a deep, dark ruby red hue, while rich aromas of red and black berries, fine oak and subtle spice blend together on the palate. The well-balanced structure and velvety texture make this Cape Ruby a special treat, which comes into its own as a digestif or with desserts.

Enjoy the Eikehof Cape Ruby slightly chilled at 14-16 °C with chocolate desserts, mature cheese, nuts or simply as an elegant end to an enjoyable evening.

Eikehof Cabernet Sauvignon
Ruby red and full of character, the Eikehof Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine that bears the signature of the traditional Eikehof Wine Estate. The family-run wine estate is idyllically situated in the shade of old oak trees to the west of Franschhoek and has been run by the Malherbe family since 1903. Today, Francois Malherbe is the fourth generation to carry on his great-grandfather's wine-growing legacy. In the glass, this medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon develops intense aromas of red and black berries, complemented by subtle spicy nuances. The three months of ageing in French oak give the wine an elegant woody note that harmoniously supports the natural fruitiness. On the palate, it is balanced, smooth and has a lingering, charming finish.Serve the Eikehof Cabernet Sauvignon at 16-18 °C with grilled or braised meat, hearty stews, mature cheese or simply as a stylish accompaniment to an enjoyable evening.
