The Danie De Wet "Good Hope" Cabernet - Merlot from the Danie de Wet winery impresses with a nuanced bouquet, a velvety-soft finish and aromas of soft plums and ripe summer berries such as blackcurrants. Subtle, soft and balanced tannins ensure a round mouthfeel and a lingering aftertaste.

The grapes come from the hot, dry Robertson Valley (Wine of Origin Robertson), where soils of limestone and clay give the cuvée additional structure and minerality. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the red wine matures in barriques, giving it depth and fine wood tones.

An accessible, drinkable red wine that is ideal for everyday enjoyment. This wine is best served at 16-18 °C to enjoy its full aroma.

Danie de Wet ist ein Schwergewicht des südafrikanischen Weinbaus. Und das nicht nur aufgrund seiner Statur, sondern weil der Mann eine Vision hat und diese zu Weinen macht, die weltweit Beachtung finden.

Dabei hat Danie der jüngste Spross einer Winzerfamilie, die seit 1693 am Kap zuhause ist, kein Problem damit, gegen den Strom zu schwimmen. So holte er Anfang der 70er Jahre Chardonnay-Rebstöcke, die mit Einfuhrverbot und Quarantänevorschriften belegt waren, nach Südafrika und legte damit den Grundstein für eines der bedeutendsten Chardonnay-Häuser der Welt.

Die Weine von Danie de Wet haben im Laufe der Jahre alles gewonnen, was es zu gewinnen gibt. Von Goldmedaillen bei nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerben bis zu regelmäßigen Höchstbewertungen im "John Platter", der Weinbibel am Kap der Guten Hoffnung.

Und dennoch bleibt Danie ruhelos. Sein neuester Coup ist eine Serie vom Premium Young Wines, die schon wenige Monate nach der Lese - mit großem Vergnügen zu genießen sind. Danie hat die drei Weine, denen er seinen Namen gab, nicht zu belanglosen Primeurs ausgebaut, sondern zu wunderbar fruchtigen, herrlich frischen und beeindruckend aromatischen Weinen, die rundum Spaß machen.

The Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-varietal top red wine from Stellenbosch in South Africa, vinified by star winemaker Abrie Beeslaar. The vines, which are over 30 years old, grow on weathered granite and Hutton soils and produce exceptionally concentrated grapes with a low yield.After traditional mash fermentation in open concrete fermenters and manual punching down of the mash, the red wine matured for 24 months in French oak (50% new). The result is a Cabernet Sauvignon of great depth, structure and elegance.It shines a deep garnet red in the glass. The nose reveals complex aromas of cassis, cigar box, cedar wood, laurel and fine peppers. Powerful and multi-layered on the palate with notes of black cherry, plum, walnut, vanilla and spices. The Sonnenberg family winery is known primarily for its Pinotage creations, but also showcases its remarkable expertise in winemaking with this Cabernet Sauvignon. This red wine from the Wellington region offers aromas of black currants, sweet plums and cloves, complemented by wonderfully harmonious notes of dried herbs and vanillas as well as nuances of nuts and tar. The Spier Signature Shiraz comes from carefully tended vineyards in the Stellenbosch region.A short fermentation at low temperatures gives the South African wine a strong character, with delicious fruit flavors. Two thirds of the wine is then matured for around six to eight months in a mixture of French and American oak, which rounds off the wine nicely and gives it extra complexity. Wood and fruit remain perfectly balanced. In the glass, the Spier Signature Shiraz has a bright ruby red color. The nose is dominated by wonderfully intense aromas of sweet fruit, marmalade, rosemary and thyme. There is also a slightly peppery note. On the nose, the red wine is elegant, slightly spicy with light tannins. It is supported by a delicious vanilla aroma, berries, plums and pepper.This dry red wine is a great combination with grilled beef, lamb and game, and is also delicious with duck and quail.
