The Goats Do Roam Red is a Rhône-inspired red wine blend, led by Shiraz and complemented by Grenache, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre. The grapes come from select vineyards in the Coastal Region, whose diverse origins contribute to the wine’s freshness, balance, and vibrant fruit.

The individual vineyard parcels are vinified separately to preserve their distinct characters. Gentle extraction during fermentation in stainless steel tanks keeps the fruit at the forefront. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and then ages in a combination of tanks and used oak barrels, which adds texture and structure.

On the nose, the Goats Do Roam Red reveals aromas of sun-ripened strawberries and red plums, complemented by dried herbs and hints of freshly ground pepper and spices. On the palate, it is soft and fruit-forward, with juicy berry flavors, gentle tannins, and a clean, fresh finish.

This easy-drinking red wine pairs wonderfully with meat grilled over an open fire, slow-braised lamb, and a generous selection of cheeses. It’s also a perfect companion for a relaxed dinner or a South African braai.
