With the Bellevue Reserve Pinotage, the renowned Bellevue winery from Stellenbosch presents its most intense and concentrated interpretation of South Africa's national grape variety. The wine comes from selected parcels of older Pinotage vineyards and embodies all the depth, power and elegance that Pinotage has to offer.

This Pinotage is dense, powerful and at the same time polished - a real powerhouse with elegance. The nose is dominated by aromas of violets, cedar wood and dark berries. Sweet and tart raspberries, maraschino cherries and a fine umami note unfold on the palate, underpinned by fine-grained tannins and a clear, long-lasting structure.

Only the best grapes are used for this reserve wine, mainly from a bush vineyard planted in 1996 on weathered granite and slate soil. After a four-day cold maceration, fermentation was temperature-controlled, with daily pump-overs for optimum extraction. The wine underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barriques and matured for 22 months in French oak barrels - half new, half second-use.

This expressive red wine calls for matured beef, a hearty game dish or - for the brave - one of the finest matured cheeses with character. Enjoy this Bellevue Reservie Pinotage at a drinking temperature of 16-18°C.

Bellevue Pinotage comes from one of South Africa's most traditional wine estates. The winery in Stellenbosch planted one of the very first Pinotage vineyards back in 1953 - making it one of the pioneers of this unique grape variety. Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and is now a true flagship of South African viticulture. The vines grow on different soils, mostly as so-called bush vines, which were planted between 1959 and 1996.The Bellevue Pinotage is fruity and lively in the glass. Aromas of red plum, cherry and raspberry are in the foreground, complemented by a pleasant spiciness and fine roasted aromas from the wooden barrel. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, juicy and elegant, with silky tannins and a harmonious, long-lasting finish. The fresh acidity also makes it particularly versatile with food.The grapes are harvested by hand and briefly cold crushed before fermentation to preserve color and fruit. The red wine then ferments for around four days, with gentle pumping over to extract the tannins and structure in the best possible way. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is matured in American oak barrels made by French coopers - the result is a balanced style with a gentle woody character and plenty of fruit.This Pinotage goes particularly well with roast beef, braised dishes such as oxtail or - for a change of pace - grilled fish such as galjoen, a South African classic. It also cuts a fine figure with strongly seasoned vegetables or mushroom dishes. Best served at 16-18°C, slightly chilled or room temperature.

For the South African winemakers a good Pinotage is always a challenge. Pinotage makes special demands on the quality of the vineyards and the art of the wine. In the Private Collection the wines have great strength and great depth and it is the art too tame the Pinotage so it becomes not too hard and dry. Perfectly ripe grapes are therefore an important condition. It is taken by the grapes from their own vineyards of Spier in Stellenbosch, where no more than 50 hectoliters per hectare Pinotage is harvested. The grapes are picked by hand in order to arrive undamaged in the basement, without oxidation. The Private Selection is made of only the best parts of the vineyard. The fermentation takes place after a short cold maceration, some in open containers. Then the wine is aged in a mixture of French and American oak barrels. American Wood emphasizes the bright and intense sweet fruit from the Pinotage and accentuates the beautiful character of this variety to a particular way. Colour: intense ruby red. Fragrance: Subtle fragrance with caramalised black cherries, hints of dark spice and dark chocolate. Taste: delicious fruit and elegant taste, pleasant feel of wood and vanilla with a light seasoning, a continuing strength, with great length and nice ripe tannins. The Sauvage La Bri Cap Classique is an artisan Blanc de Blancs made from 100% Chardonnay, which shows the power and elegance of the South African sparkling wine tradition in its purest form. Only 1150 bottles of this special vintage were produced - each individually numbered by hand.The Chardonnay grapes come from La Bri's oldest vineyard (planted in 1991) and were carefully harvested by hand on February 12, 2018. After careful whole cluster pressing, the must fermented in four old French barriques. After 3 months of barrel maturation, the base wine was bottled and crown-corked with liqueur de tirage to start the second fermentation in the bottle.Particularly impressive: the wine matured for 71 months on the lees ("sur lie") - a clear sign of quality and patience. As a Brut Nature, it was disgorged without dosage and thus retains its natural freshness and structure.In the glass, Sauvage La Bri Cap Classique has a fine perlage and complex aromas of toasted bread, dried mushrooms, citrus zest and mineral notes. The palate is taut, straightforward and precise with a refreshing, long finish.The label is adorned with the delicate Serruria florida, also known as the "Blushing Bride" - a tribute to the origin of the grapes and the romance of the moment.
