With the Carpe Diem Pinotage Reserve, the prestigious Diemersfontein winery from Wellington presents a powerful, deep red wine that shows the full potential of the South African Pinotage grape variety. As a reserve bottling, it stands for strict selection, traditional vinification and exceptional depth.

Diemersfontein has earned international acclaim for its Pinotage in particular and has established itself as one of South Africa's leading wine estates. The Carpe Diem Pinotage Reserve offers aromas of blackcurrant and cherries on the nose. On the palate, a hint of vanilla harmonizes wonderfully with the smooth tannins.

The 100% Pinotage wine comes from two growing regions in Wellington. The small berries produce particularly concentrated aromas. The wine matured for more than 16 months in 70% French and 30% American oak.

Carpe Diem Pinotage is a wonderful accompaniment to lamb and curry dishes.

Nur 45 Autominuten von Kapstadt entfernt liegt Diemersfontein in unmittelbarer Nähe der berühmten Weinstraße am Kap. Bekannt ist Diemersfontein vor allem für seinen herausragenden Pinotage.

Seit den frühen 1940er Jahren ist Diemersfontein im Besitz der Familie Sonnenberg. Max Sonnenberg kaufte die 183 Hektar große Farm, die im Schatten der majestätischen Hawekwa Mountains liegt und mit einem Panoramablick auf die beiden Berge Du Toit Kloof und Bains Kloof ihre Besucher begeistert. Im Mittelpunkt des Weingutes liegen malerische Gärten, die von Cecilia Sonnenberg entworfen wurden. Unzählige Rosen und Azaleen bieten mit ihrer Blütenpracht den Rahmen für festliche Anlässe.

Die ersten Weinberge wurden in den 1970er-Jahren gepflanzt und im Jahr 2000 baute David Sonennberg seinen eigenen Keller und begann mit der Produktion preisgekrönter Gutsweine. Die Rebflächen sind mit Shiraz, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot ausgelegt, aber auch die „weniger bekannten“ Rebsorten Viognier, Barbera, Roobernet und Mouvedre werden hier erfolgreich angebaut. Bekannt wurde Diemersfontein vor allem für seinen herausragenden Pinotage.

For the South African winemakers a good Pinotage is always a challenge. Pinotage makes special demands on the quality of the vineyards and the art of the wine. In the Private Collection the wines have great strength and great depth and it is the art too tame the Pinotage so it becomes not too hard and dry. Perfectly ripe grapes are therefore an important condition. It is taken by the grapes from their own vineyards of Spier in Stellenbosch, where no more than 50 hectoliters per hectare Pinotage is harvested. The grapes are picked by hand in order to arrive undamaged in the basement, without oxidation. The Private Selection is made of only the best parts of the vineyard. The fermentation takes place after a short cold maceration, some in open containers. Then the wine is aged in a mixture of French and American oak barrels. American Wood emphasizes the bright and intense sweet fruit from the Pinotage and accentuates the beautiful character of this variety to a particular way. Colour: intense ruby red. Fragrance: Subtle fragrance with caramalised black cherries, hints of dark spice and dark chocolate. Taste: delicious fruit and elegant taste, pleasant feel of wood and vanilla with a light seasoning, a continuing strength, with great length and nice ripe tannins. Can be drunk now, but can also improve 4 to 7 years.Delicious with a beautiful bouquet with black pepper steak, pasta with pesto and black olives, ripe cheese.

Der Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block ist ein unverwechselbares Geschmackserlebnis aus Südafrika. In der Nase vereint dieser trockene Blend aus knapp drei Viertel Syrah (Shiraz) sowie kleineren Anteilen von Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Cinsault und Viognier vielfältige Noten: Intensive Kirschnoten, Kardamom, süßer Tabak, Espresso und ein Hauch von Parfüm kommen hier zusammen. Am Gaumen vollmundig und rund, mit sehr guter Struktur, erfrischender Säure, einer rauchigen Mineralität und Aromen von schwarzen Oliven, sowie Lakritz und reifen Pflaumen.Für 16 Monate wurde der vegane Wein aus der Region Franschhoek im Eichenholz ausgebaut, wobei zu 10% neue Fässer zum Einsatz kamen.Der außergewöhnliche Rotwein passt ideal zu Pasta und Pizza, dunklem Fleisch (gebraten oder gegrillt), zu Geräuchertem oder zu mittelkräftigem Käse oder Hartkäse bei einer Trinktemperatur von 18 °C.Auch als 1.5-Liter-Magnum-Flasche erhältlich.
