Deliberately with a little less residual sweetness and very structured on the palate, this dry wine from Italy is full-bodied but at the same time has a smoothness that is second to none. In a long process with the cellar master and owner Gaetano Marangelli from Cantine Menhir, we have brought the typical Apulian native form of a Primitivo into the bottle.The color is an intense dark red and shows all the power of the sun that was able to flow into the grapes of the Pr1mo. The nose has wonderful aromas of cherry jam, ripe plums and wild berries. Maturing in wooden barrels gives the wine an additional hint of vanilla. Fruit and fullness dominate the palate. Aromas of dark fruits such as morello cherries, blackberries, cassis, plums, elderberries and raspberries rise to the nose, accentuated by caramel, mocha, dark chocolate and pepper. If you delve further into this multi-faceted bouquet, you will recognize hints of leather and cedar wood.The extraordinary flavor composition unfolds fully with the first sip. Now it is boiled berries, espresso aromas and the sweet nuance of vanilla that delight the tongue. This unusual red wine from the Italian winery Farnese Vini was made from the grape varieties Montepulciano, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera. After fermentation, the wine matured separately for 12 months in barriques. San Marzano Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria DOP

Production area: Selected vineyards of Neviera and Casa Rossa, located in San Marzano district. The soil is mainly “terra rossa”, with a fine texture and generally a calcareous undergound with a few emerging rocks. The well-known redness of these soils is due to the presence of iron oxides. The climate is characterised by high temperatures all year round, very few rainfalls and a wide difference of temperature between night and day, which has a nice influence on the quality of grapes. This is the “classical” central area of d.o.c. ”Primitivo di Manduria” Harvest period: Third decade of August, first decade of September Vinification: Hand-harvested in small baskets. Maceration: 18 days with selected autochtonous yeasts. Thermo-controlled alcoholic fermentation at 24-26 °C Maturation: In French oak barrels for 6 months Tasting notes: Intense ruby red colour, wide and complex to the nose, fruity, with prunes, cherry jam aroma, with notes of tobacco, slightly spicy.
